Associate Art Director, Direct-to-Consumer Product Development -VNCP Global Creative Group
Description:
Develop, guide and support the design and fabrication of licensed consumer products across multiple categories for US-based Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and Direct-to-Retail (DTR) e-commerce businesses. Ensure designs are best-in-class and aligned with Viacom|Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP) trend, retail and franchise creative strategies. Inspire and maintain the design aesthetic of all DTC
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain deep understanding of VNCP franchises including characters, story worlds and creative strategies. Act as VNCP franchise creative guide and expert for external DTC/R product development teams.
• Collaborate with internal Creative Strategy team to develop consumer products strategies for “niche” franchises.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in determining ideal assortments for each relevant franchise being sold through DTC/R channels.
• Leveraging internal trend research overall product development and retail strategies to establish unique design direction for DTC/R assortments.
• Work with external product development teams to develop original products for DTC/R channels in accordance with established design directions.
• Monitor and communicate any/all learnings that can be used to improve product design and assortments in these channels as well as in the wider VNCP retail landscape.
• Maintain deep awareness and expertise in retail trends and assortments, particularly with competitive franchises, in both e-commerce and physical retail channels.
• Stay abreast of franchise fan trends, designs, memes and social media feedback and how those can inform more successful product design and execution.
• Stay abreast of new style guide creative and be familiar with creative archives.
• Research new design elements including fonts, color palettes and technology
• Attend CP Creative meeting on a monthly basis to report on learnings from DTC/DTR designs
Reporting Position
• Position reports to VP, Global Trends (based in London)
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a creative field or fashion design preferred
• 6 years creating apparel products for licensed entertainment
• Experience with Men, Women and Kids demo
• Strong creative abilities in 2D product design and development
• Strong in typography, layout and use of color
• Expert knowledge of all major design applications Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop
Additional Qualifications
• Capacity to interpret and execute creative direction, and receive feedback
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Some knowledge of UI design is preffered
• Ability to direct and inspire product photography
