Responsible for design, setup and maintenance of real-time live VR video streaming servers in data centers, production trucks and in the labs. You will work with our own internal systems engineers to build, configure and maintain fault tolerant and resilient systems for lengthy deployments. Also responsible for the care and feeding of the technology powering a small but high-performing VR post-production/creative team. We work on a mixture of Mac and Windows desktops plus a small linux render farm. You'll be backed up by an experienced team of systems, network, and broadcast engineers who manage the infrastructure for our VR app development, production technology R&D, and video streaming operations.

Day to day responsibilities include:
Troubleshoot application and OS issues, networking problems, and systems issues.
Set up and put new workstations and render machines into operation.
Set up and maintain Windows deployment and automation tools.
Perform software installs and manage software licenses.
Maintenance and monitoring of a Quantum Stornext SAN.
Manage Deadline render farm configuration and help artists troubleshoot failed jobs.
Bash/DOS/python scripting to automate processes and improve efficiency.
Liaise with vendors for technical support when required.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of Windows 10, Linux, and macOS installation and configuration.
Professional experience in a systems/IT support position, ideally in a visual effects / editing / VR studio environment.
Familiarity with VR equipment setup and troubleshooting (Rift, Vive, PSVR, WMR).
Comfortable in both Bash and DOS shell, Python a plus.
Familiar with installation and management of license servers like RLM and FLEXlm.
Experience troubleshooting creative tools such as Maya, Nuke, and Adobe Premiere.
Experience deploying and managing render queue systems, ideally Thinkbox Deadline.
Experience with Quantum Stornext SAN.
Experience with tools used in systems monitoring, like Grafana and Telegraf.
Broadcast video experience: using equipment like AJA/Blackmagic cards, SDI cabling, monitor calibration.
Extensive knowledge and proven experience of installing and supporting many Linux distributions, specifically Debian and Ubuntu.
Extensive knowledge of standard system tools with the ability to use them to automate complex system tasks.
Extensive knowledge of physical networking and network protocols, services and security including: TCP-IP, Switching, Routing, VLAN's, VoIP, SSH, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, NFS and Samba.
Good understanding of file systems including EXT, ZFS and the various RAID options available.
Experience installing and maintaining revision control systems including Git.
Knowledge and experience running web server software and related modules (Apache, Nginx).
Knowledge of other operating systems including Mac OS X, Android and Windows and how they interoperate would be an advantage.
Experience of diagnosing and fixing technical problems across a variety of hardware platforms.
Experience interacting with Data Center operations professionals and installing/maintaining rack servers.
Ability to travel to install new systems and maintain existing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of the requirements of an active Research & Development department.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal with matters in a professional and friendly manner.
Ability to apply analysis skills and problem-solving techniques to situations to provide fast and effective solutions.
Ability to prioritize workload effectively and work well under pressure.
Ability to work on your own initiative.
The ability to comprehend and communicate clearly and effectively on a wide range of technical issues with people at all levels.
