Position Description
Head of User Experience Strategy will be a key member of Nexstar digital's leadership team, responsible for ideation, visualization and packaging of data driven and quantifiable strategic business initiatives . Reporting to SVP, Strategy and Business Intelligence, the position will focus on leveraging primary user research to shape differentiated and engaging user-experience across Nexstar Digital's product portfolio.
Head of User Experience Strategy will work collaboratively and closely with senior stakeholders from across the company including Business Intelligence/Development, Revenue /Operations Engineering, Product, Project and Content. They should have a keen ability to translate business requirements into visuals (User-Experience Comps and Concept illustrations) but also the creative and data-driven vision to push the boundaries of what is possible and challenge the assumptions of how.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, passionate leader from a creative UX background that operates equally as effectively in both independent and team collaboration settings. He/she should have a strong business acumen, demonstrated excellence in UX and creative, solid technology experience, and ideally, familiarity with the broadcast industry.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders and collaborate and manage projects within a large geographically diverse company.
Responsibilities:
• Partnering with a cross-functional team of leaders (Product, Project, Editorial, Design, Engineering, Marketing) in a highly collaborative environment to envision the future of digital products
• Contributing to the planning, conducting, and synthesizing of user research and testing.
• Define and establish metrics driven user-experience strategy and creative direction for Nexstar Digital's strategic business and product initiatives.
• Create visualizations, presentation including wireframes, concept mocks and screen flows to promote an understanding of important concepts and feed the product development process.
• Participate in executive business reviews, presenting designs and concepts, and revisions. Help package concepts, new initiatives and business opportunities for executive review and evaluation, apply feedback to revisions that build broad support and promote understanding of various initiatives.
• Product marketing and packaging, help shape go-to-market stories for new initiatives including comps for customer review, marketing materials. M
• Mentoring and supervising a small team (1-2 staff).
• Promoting core design principles consistently across the brands (e.g. simplicity, usability, etc.)
Education
/Experience:
• 8+ year's experience in a creative leadership role (all in digital). 10+ years experience in UX and design.
• Demonstrated understanding of data and experience creating products for a range of digital platforms: web, mobile, and emerging platforms.
• Experience working in an agile environment with a cross-functional team.
• Experience managing design resources.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• An exceptional portfolio of digital projects (shipped to market) that demonstrates your ability to elevate a brand through creative comprehensive and joyful experiences
• Experience with a range of sketch, wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Sketch, Proto.io, whiteboards, and, pen and paper)
• Forward-thinking, imaginative, and willing to take risks with your work
• A systematic thinker who sees the big picture (yet is still attentive to details)
• A strong and confident communicator (verbal, written, and visual).
• A proactive problem solver with excellent time management skills
• Always empathetic with and advocating for the customer
• Familiar with Product Discovery methods and collaborative frameworks.
• An expert in current visual design and UX trends and best practices.
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
