Manager, Broadcast Standards & Practices - CW Network - (Remote) ATL

The Job:
The CW Television Network is actively seeking a proactive Manager, Broadcast Standards & Practices to join our dedicated BS&P team. This individual will play a pivotal role as the central point at our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Atlanta, overseeing LIVE programming coverage. Their primary responsibility will be to guarantee strict compliance with FCC and other regulatory standards for CW broadcast affiliates.
The Daily:
• Manages the live programming with the AirCleaner delay requiring flexibility with working hours and travel to NOC.
• Will include Commercial Clearance review as necessary.
• Review submitted commercial material including scripts, storyboards, rough cuts, and final/finished spots for regulatory (FDA, FCC, FTC, etc.) and content concerns in accordance with the Commercial Clearance Guidelines.
• Issuing clearance decisions under tight deadlines, and noting problematic content to determine if restrictions, edits, or a rejection may be necessary.
• Analyzing and identifying problematic creative, requesting substantiation for claims, and communicating programming and/or time restrictive placement or rejection recommendations in a timely manner.
• Key liaison with sales staff, agency account executives, advertising clients, and traffic personnel on clearance matters.
• Ensures correct commercial scheduling with Hearst (One Magnificent Morning [FCC required Educational/Informational programming supplier]), CW Sales staff, CW Network Traffic, and video operations personnel.
• Maintains various Standards and Commercial Clearance databases including but not limited to internal and third-party applications.
While live programming and commercial clearance coverage is paramount, scripted and unscripted programming review as necessary.
• Manages the Primetime programming approval process – including scripted and alternative programming.
• Review scripts and all revisions, dailies, rough cuts and finals for regulatory (FCC), content concerns (e.g. - sexual/suggestive material, language, violence, taste, etc.), and product integration.
• Issue notes to Producers and negotiate policy compliance at all the stages of production as noted above.
• Maintain various Broadcast Standards databases (e.g. – program content ratings, schedules, etc.).
The Essentials:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, if and when necessary.
• Must have general knowledge of FCC, FTC, and broadcast regulations.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers, affiliates, clients, and other levels of personnel including negotiating skills.
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions including the ability to apply standards, distinguish from personal beliefs, and make decisions in high-pressure situations and environments.
• Must have good PC skills including basic Windows knowledge.
• Must be detail oriented and excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and work well under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work independently remote.
• Working knowledge of data bases/programs: MediaVu, MediaQurator, Airtable, and Wide Orbit, preferred.
The Compensation
• $70 - $85k /yr commensurate with experience and skill levels.
