KRON 4, the Bay Area's Local News Station, is seeking a best-in-class general sales manager to lead and motivate our successful sales team in San Francisco, the 6th largest television market in the country. Candidates must have a proven track record of achieving revenue goals and delivering results for customers that span a wide range of categories. In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to help teams navigate an ever-evolving media landscape and craft multi-faceted, holistic customer solutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides leadership for the broadcast/digital sales teams with clear understanding of all audience platforms
• Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees
• Develops and executes sales strategies which result in exceeding revenue targets in local, national, digital and news integration sponsorships
• Creates strategies that drive new business development and long-term partnerships
• Manages inventory and revenue forecasting setting rate structures that optimize revenue opportunities
• Manages recruitment and development of talented sales professionals
• Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures
• Resolves customer issues and challenges using a win-win attitude
• Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and perfect team operation
• Understands various forecasting tools and CRM software that provide clear forecasting reports updated weekly
• Directs the Accounts Receivable efforts of the Sales Department
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum five years' experience in media sales
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Experience guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates, including setting performance standards, and monitoring performance
• Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
• Proficiency with Wide Orbit, BI, Matrix, or similar CRM as well as Excel, Word, and other various business software systems
