This is a Full Time Job
This position is responsible for day-to-day content on our digital efforts and will work closely with our News Director, Digital Director and Assignment Desk for the most accurate and up-to-date news of the day online.
This will be a regular, full-time, non-union, non-exempt position. Schedule will be flexible but may include evenings and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Curate and produce a steady stream of interesting original content as well as content shared from other stations in the company
• Create and curate short-form videos for distribution on social media platforms; Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok
• Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs, and social) and be quick to report breaking news
• Always on the hunt for exclusive and/or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local traffic
• Excellent at writing headlines and social media captions/copy
• Prioritize packaging and creating content that grows engagement on social media and drives site visits/pageviews
• Evaluate website traffic trends and social media analytics to make decisions on both daily content needs and, in concert with the team, longer-term content curation
• Build positive working relationships with station staff and management, work collaboratively on enterprise content, and look for opportunities to leverage broadcast for web content
• Look for innovative ways to distribute news content on appropriate social media channels
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent writing and editing skills, attention to detail
• Familiarity with news writing and journalistic standards
• Ability to create short-form videos for social media and web
• Familiarity with CMS production
• Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends, early mornings)
• Regularly meets measurements of success
• Understanding of Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat and social media analytics a plus
• Proficiency in MS Office; basic HTML
• Proficiency in the Adobe suite: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, specifically
• Solid news judgment and understanding of journalistic ethics
