Staff Video Editor
New Rockstars
Burbank, CAThis is a Full Time Job
New Rockstars™ is seeking to hire a Staff Editor!
The ideal candidate is an experienced editor with a strong sense of pacing, storytelling, comedy, and visual style, ideally with experience working at a trailer editing house, YouTube company, digital media brand, or similarly fast-paced post-production environment.
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who already knows and loves the kinds of fandoms New Rockstars covers. You don't need to know every corner of every cinematic universe, but familiarity with properties like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and other major genre franchises will help you thrive in this role.
Candidates must be based in Los Angeles and available to work from our Burbank office several days per week.
Standard working hours are generally Monday through Friday during daytime business hours. Because New Rockstars covers time-sensitive entertainment releases, this role will occasionally be asked to work an adjusted weekday schedule to support our editing workflow. This could mean an evening shift ending around 9pm or an early start around 7am on certain days. We anticipate this flexibility will be needed approximately one to four times per month. These schedule adjustments will typically be discussed several days in advance and based on both production needs and the employee's availability. Truly last-minute requests are expected to be rare.
Job Responsibilities
-Edit and oversee the completion of New Rockstars videos across multiple formats, including solo-hosted videos, panel shows, branded content, and other original programming
-Exercise creative judgment and artistic discretion to determine the narrative pacing, comedic tone, visual language, and overall storytelling structure of New Rockstars videos.
-Take primary editorial ownership of select longer-form videos and projects, helping maintain a consistent visual and editorial style throughout the full piece
-Conceptualize, design, and execute original video edits, motion graphics, visual effects, and custom thumbnails that define and elevate New Rockstars' brand identity.
-Assemble incoming edits, implement internal and host notes, perform QC checks, and prepare completed videos for publishing
-Provide creative direction, asset organization frameworks, and feedback to freelance and contract editors to ensure visual and tone consistency.
-Organize and distribute project files and assets for freelance and contract editors
-Prepare and adapt content for off-YouTube distribution and additional platforms
-Collaborate with hosts, writers, and producers to develop new show formats, visual segments, and original channel packaging.
-Occasionally monitor remote and in-person recordings and assist technically as needed
-Create graphics, motion graphics, and video thumbnails using tools including Adobe After Effects and Photoshop
-Schedule and publish content on YouTube as needed
-Keep up with current IP and major releases that the company has identified as essential coverage
**For candidates interested in expanding beyond traditional editing, there may also be opportunities to develop original content from start to finish, including writing, appearing on camera, and editing your own videos. On-camera or writing experience is not required for this position, but an interest in developing those skills is a welcome bonus.
Qualifications
-1 to 3 years of professional editing experience, ideally in YouTube, digital media, trailer editing, entertainment marketing, or another fast-paced post-production environment
-Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
-Advanced visual literacy and creative storytelling skills with a portfolio showcasing independent decision-making in narrative flow, comedic timing, and visual composition.
-Experience with Adobe Photoshop and familiarity with Adobe After Effects
-Familiarity with Adobe Audition
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform thorough quality control on outgoing content
-A capable troubleshooter and self-starter
-Interest in improving workflow processes
-Deep familiarity and enthusiasm for the films, shows, franchises, and fandoms New Rockstars covers
