Netflix is one of the world's leading streaming entertainment services, with over 247 million members in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, documentaries, feature films, and mobile games across various genres and languages. Members can play, pause, and resume watching as they want, anytime, anywhere, and change their plans anytime.
The Ads, Brand & Reputation, and Emerging Experiences Consumer Insights (ABREE CI) Group is part of the broader Data & Insights organization at Netflix. We keep Netflix ahead of the curve by shifting focus to previously underserved innovation areas and understanding consumers' and key opinion formers' perceptions of the Netflix brand and reputation in global markets. Our company-wide perspective ensures that our insights inspire decisions. The Emerging Experiences pod within the ABREE CI group plays a critical role in identifying opportunities for breakthrough innovation at the intersection of content and product that delivers value to our members and propelling nascent initiatives forward, including Live and Tudum (Netflix companion website) through the delivery of provocative human-centered insights.
We are looking for a Senior Researcher, Emerging Experiences to identify key consumer opportunities to help us unlock future growth on our path to entertain the world. The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for innovation, an excitement for working on pathfinding / 0-1 projects, and experience collaborating with cross-functional partners to shape product vision and strategies to join the group. This role is an opportunity to lead innovative and high-velocity research with a demonstrable impact on a global scale. You will be responsible for defining, conducting, analyzing, and socializing research studies that generate insights to empower business decisions across the company. You'll partner with cross-functional teams passionate about delivering the most engaging, innovative, and inclusive experiences.
In this role, you will:
• Develop strong collaborations with cross-functional colleagues, including members of other Consumer Insights groups, Product, Design, Content, and Data Science
• Actively shape research roadmaps and prioritize research plans to address business needs by balancing bigger-picture details like business complexity and brand impact so that insights will materially impact how cross-functional team members and key stakeholders think about opportunities and ultimately inform good decisions.
• Define, design, execute, and socialize research studies that build a strong understanding of existing and future audiences and their experiences worldwide.
• Proactively study business context to identify and deliver high impact from unasked business questions and needs that research can illuminate.
• Proactively identify ''big ideas'' across projects and socialize them with stakeholders without prompting.
• Synthesize data and connect dots between multiple sources (surveys, qualitative, behavioral, 3rd party) to craft clear insights with strategic business impact for internal memos or reports.
• Boldly bring the user's voice into the room in a way that directly and immediately impacts the business, even when your points are controversial, because bringing edgy and controversial perspectives does not intimidate you.
We Are Looking For:
• Demonstrable experience in product and/or user experience (UX) research, with mixed methods expertise, including hands-on experience leading end-to-end quantitative and qualitative research studies. Global research experience is highly desired but not required
• An advanced degree in psychology, social sciences, or a related field is preferred but not required
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and other Consumer Insights researchers in areas including Content, Marketing, Communications, Product, Design, Data Science, Social, and Brand to proactively develop research initiatives
• Experience working with Data Science partners and incorporating behavioral data from A/B testing and other sources throughout the end-to-end research journey - from business questioning, research scoping, analysis, and reporting
• Balance of creative and analytical skills with the ability to proactively define research questions, identify appropriate methods, execute studies, and synthesize findings.
• A track record of thought leadership and delivering research to inform business, marketing, and product development strategies and roadmaps
• Strong communicator able to engage effectively with stakeholders and research participants from different backgrounds and proactively collaborate with multiple teams across the company.
• Able to work with minimal direction while delivering high-quality outputs
• Creative thinking, an ability to look at problems in new ways, the boldness to try new things, and an exceptional ability to advocate for insights
• A hypothesis-driven mentality, a proactive approach to getting things done, and an ability to work independently with minimal guidance but know when and how to seek help when stuck
