The Studio Planning team is looking for a Senior Manager to join its financial planning team. The role will be an integrated business partner to the Physical Production team and be responsible for the financial planning activities related to the company's growing studio. The Senior Manager position will reside within the company's Hollywood-based studio planning team, work closely with both the Vice President and Director of Studio Planning and Analysis, and oversee a team of 4-5 people.
Job Responsibilities:
Long-Range Planning and Scenario Analysis
• Work with senior studio leadership to translate strategic initiatives into a multi-year roadmap with complete cost and capital requirements for Physical Production, Post Production and VFX
• Partner with Studio Planning and Analysis to drive dynamic scenario assessments that facilitate decisions when faced with economic trade-offs
• Lead the analysis and strategic discussions on studio overhead, including understanding key ratios
• Provide recommendations on how to adjust future spending to track towards investment goals across content categories and geographies
P&L and Cash Management
• Lead the global consolidation of studio expenses and cash payments across Physical Production, Post Production and VFX
• Prepare guidance and financial update materials for content and studio leads and corporate FP&A team to identify potential shortfalls or surpluses
• Maintain schedule of estimated future contractual commitments for accurate disclosure in financial statements and proper capital planning
• Partner with finance team to review and modify accounting policies
Process Improvement & Systems Integration
• Work with developers and outside vendors to design and enhance systems to ensure timely, accurate and complete information sharing
• Improve processes to scale with the growth in production
Qualifications
• Candidates are required to be highly analytical and be strong, effective communicators. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of superior financial and strategic analysis and delivering actionable recommendations based on this analysis
• The successful candidate must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of senior-level business managers. He/She must thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
• Netflix is fast-growing with a flat organizational structure, which means that employees are often asked to perform tasks with a range of difficulties. Candidate must be motivated, disciplined, flexible, and be able to work effectively autonomously
Requirements
• 10 to 15 years of experience in corporate finance, investment bank and/or public accounting with extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative financial analysis
• Prior experience in Studio Operations, Physical Production, Post Production, VFX or related production activities required
• Financial system development experience is not required, but must have proficiency working with automated reporting tools (i.e., Hyperion, SAP, Workday financials)
• Superior proficiency with Excel & complex financial modeling
• Sound working knowledge of the related accounting guidance
• 4-year degree in relevant field with strong academic performance; MBA preferred
