Senior Manager, Content Localization (UCAN - Scripted Series and Documentary)
The Opportunity
As a Senior Content Localization Manager (UCAN Scripted Series and Documentary), you will lead a large team of multiple Localization Title Producers overseeing Scripted Series and Documentary slates that have a significant business impact. You will report to a Director, driving both operational excellence and strategic vision across a broad geographic and business scope.
The Senior Content Localization Manager (UCAN Scripted Series and Documentary) will serve as the primary leader for all localization efforts, including dubbing, subtitling, main/episodic titles, accessibility, and marketing assets. You will be accountable for establishing operational objectives, procedures, and strategies for your team, delegating assignments, and ensuring that your decisions align with both immediate needs and long-term company strategy. You will develop, modify, and execute global strategies with cross-regional and company-wide impact, drive large-scale projects, manage team budgets, and champion Netflix's culture of impact, inclusion, and global excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
• Develop and execute a comprehensive localization strategy aligned with regional and global objectives and KPIs.
• Partner with regional and global leaders to implement localization initiatives and prioritize resources.
• Support the rollout of Netflix's 5-year Localization vision.
• Represent the UCAN Scripted Series and Documentary team in operational and creative strategy discussions.
• Drive the strategy and success of large-scale, high-impact, cross-regional projects.
• Resolve complex problems with critical impact on business activities and schedules.
Team Management & Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams of Title Producers.
• Hire, develop, and retain top talent; oversee performance, feedback, and development planning.
• Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
• Lead succession planning and organizational design for a large, multi-layered team.
• Coach and develop other managers.
• Model Netflix culture and values.
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Collaborate with Content, Production, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
• Act as the escalation point for complex issues.
• Build strong partnerships with local vendors, talent, and industry organizations.
• Lead complex, global, cross-functional initiatives influencing company-wide outcomes.
Operational & Financial Excellence
• Drive standardization and continuous improvement of localization workflows.
• Partner with Finance and Accounting to manage localization budgets and costs.
• Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for Title Producers.
• Monitor competitor activity and industry trends.
Thought Leadership & Representation
• Identify opportunities for quality improvement, efficiency, and scalability.
• Lead change management for new tools, workflows, or organizational structures.
• Professionally represent Netflix in the localization marketplace and at industry events.
• Serve as a visible leader and advocate for Localization Title Producers.
Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in content localization, dubbing, subtitling, or international versioning, with 5+ years in people leadership.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and large-scale localization projects.
• Deep expertise in dubbing and subtitling workflows, tools, and best practices.
• Strong operational, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience with accessibility standards is a plus.
• Fluency in English required; additional languages a strong plus.
• Willingness to travel and adapt to evolving priorities.
