About you
As a product designer at Netflix, you'll be developing ideas, crafting rich canvases and testing new experiences that can bring our shows and movies to life. You will be involved at every step of the product development process, from brainstorming and testing broad ideas to ensuring design quality through launch. Your impact will be global.
You're an incredible user experience designer with visual and interaction design skills. You have years of experience creating great consumer products. You know how to be the voice for customer-centric design innovation while meeting business goals. You understand when and how to work with qualitative research methodologies and also have the rigor and approach in how to use data to inform design.
You're comfortable adapting to changes. When faced with limits, you become more - not less - creative. You bring projects from concept to completion, doing everything possible to ensure their success.
You're smart, confident, highly competent-and humble enough not to have an ego. You're a skilled communicator who welcomes honest, candid feedback. You have the ability to prioritize, plan and deliver projects on time and with quality expectations. You collaborate with product managers, business dev partners, engineers, researchers and content creators to oversee the experience from conception to launch.
Responsibilities
• Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision
• Leverage your skills to define problems and identify solutions
• A systems thinker who can define Visual Language Systems
• Build strong relationships with engineering, product management, research and content partners
• Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys and lightweight prototypes
• Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to articulate design rationale
• You are empowered to find innovative ways to win the hearts and minds of our members by bringing new ideas to the table to continually test, learn and launch
• Have a natural bias towards how, not why, and is fully invested in our culture of experimentation, and A/B testing
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations, be a self-starter, and be comfortable switching between vision-level and hands-on pixel-level work
Experience & Skills
• 6 years design experience working on mobile and/or TV and shipping consumer-facing products
• BA/BS in UX, HCI or related field
• Experience designing large-scale visual design systems
• Ability to rapidly ideate and produce multiple UX/UI concepts
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions and influence key stakeholders
• Experience across the entire product lifecycle and have lived through multiple launches
• Experience working with remote teams and solving for an international audience is a plus
• Highly proficient with design tools (Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Motion Design and light prototyping a plus
• A strong bias towards action
• Earnest, mature, and ego-free. You welcome candid feedback, and can constructively give it as well
• A love of television and film
• A great portfolio that showcases deep visual and/or interaction design skills
