This is a Full Time Job
We are seeking a Los Angeles-based product & production counsel (Principal Counsel) to join our Content Technologies Legal team primarily to support the Eyeline business and Netflix Content Operations. This is a challenging and diverse role where you will:
• leverage your product counsel expertise to support new content technology initiatives in Eyeline's production testing environments;
• work closely with Netflix's subject-matter legal teams (e.g., Business & Legal Affairs, Production Employment, Labor) while functioning as the lead Eyeline production counsel across the production lifecycle from pre- to principal to post- (e.g., entity choice & structuring, ATL/BTL engagements, third party technology integrations, rights & clearance, labor & employment considerations, in-the-moment risk management);
• support the Eyeline Studio, VFX and Labs sub-functions, including establishing and standardizing contractual workflows, creating self-help legal guidance and support avenues to facilitate independent recurring legal engagement, improving business awareness and leading internal education sessions, and serving as an escalation point for the business as well as for our counsel and contracts managers; and
• support Netflix's broader content operations as needed.
This is an individual contributor role responsible for developing and executing the tactical plans to achieve our business and legal strategic objectives. You will be confidently independent and able to handle a wide range of issues that may arise. You will efficiently partner with counsel and contracts manager resources, and you will be a selfless collaborator with a natural instinct to proactively engage with cross-functional partners. You understand and apply a pragmatic risk lens built upon a foundation of exceptional judgment and practical experience, and you communicate very clearly and concisely. You genuinely exemplify the Netflix culture, and you yearn for the vast and endless sea.
This role requires 8–15 years of meaningful production (legal affairs) experience with expertise supporting technology development and deployments. A JD and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar are required. This role reports to the Senior Director of the Content Tech Legal team.
