The Role
The Netflix Master QC team is charged with defining, driving, and executing the quality standards for our Original content through a QC process designed with pixel perfection in mind. The Master QC Manager will be responsible for leading the team, setting the vision, and driving the quality of our source files through innovation, automation, and influencing the industry.
The Responsibilities
• Provide strong strategic leadership and foster an environment that breeds innovation while ensuring excellent tactical execution
• Identify and address gaps in our quality control process leveraging automation, engineering, and strong cross-functional partnerships to drive quality of our Originals' assets
• Partner with Studio Technologies team to provide clear quality standards both internally and externally
• Track tactical and high-level metrics to identify and diagnose trends, patterns, and problems around the quality of our shows/partners/vendors
• Forge strong relationships with internal distribution and post teams to ensure alignment on quality standards and expectations
• Design a scalable approach to defining and messaging quality standards
• Develop new quality standards for emerging technologies
• Collaborate with Distribution and Engineering team to drive quality standards, automation, and tools for archival assets
• Partner with Studio Tech, Post and Creative teams recommend workflow quality control that will help prevent QC issues upstream in the content process
• Make sound independent decisions and know when to escalate issues
• Advocate, understand and communicate the company's values
The Right Stuff
• 8 years experience in post-production, video engineering and/or quality control
• Strong technical background, including knowledge of 4K, HDR, color spaces, post-production workflows, video codecs, file manufacturing processes and common industry tools for file preparation
• Willingness and aptitude to educate both internal and external entities with varying degrees of knowledge in your area of expertise
• Highly organized, efficient and detail-oriented
• Successful recruiting track record to build a strong team
