The Role
The Manager of Production Finance for Korea will be instrumental in spearheading the Production Finance goals of the Originals team in Korea. These goals include i) managing and vetting production budgets and estimated final costs ii) protecting company financial exposure through production oversight and controls and iii) utilizing local market expertise to the benefit of the Korean slate.
Responsibilities:
• Work effectively and decisively within the Netflix International Originals team to manage third party production companies who are producing local content for Netflix
• Collaborate with Line Producers, Production Managers, Accounting Staff and the Netflix International Originals team to deliver the highest quality content
• Oversee timely and complete budgeting and cost reporting throughout the life-cycle of a production to ensure proper financial management of the slate
• Hire the most talented production teams with the skillset to provide the highest level of production support on shows that are some of the most ambitious and complex to be ever produced within Korea
• Focus on each production crew to provide Netflix with the most accurate cost data as possible
• Ensure production finance best practices of production control are effectively implemented on our productions
• Manage the cash flow, forecast, and funding processes
• Review production budgets and cost reports to flag any production concerns both internally and externally
• Manage production incentive workflow and ensure receipt of tax credits or cash
• Develop relationships with Film Commissioners, Producers and industry stakeholders to build resources and networks from which to poll industry information and help ensure all production finance processes are current, reasonable and timely
• Facilitate the training and mentoring of junior production accounting staff on Netflix shows with the goal of increasing the pool of loyal ''star'' accounting candidates for future Netflix productions
• Keep abreast of current and changing industry trends, evolving technologies, production incentives and changes in crew capacity and infrastructure support in the main worldwide production centers
• Travel to production locations where our shows are filming to audit, review work flows, organizational abilities and effectiveness of teams
• Liaise with internal Netflix teams to apply the wealth of knowledge and experience within the team to the benefit of the production; teams such as Netflix HR, Labor Relations, Content Accounting, Internal Audit, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Treasury, IT
• Research, develop and test new technologies that provide the next generation of production finance tools and determine how and when to best incorporate into the production accounting workflow
Qualifications:
• Candidates must have 5-10 years in scripted Korean production
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team
• Solution focused, with a strong ability to be flexible, effective and impactful across a widely-varying range of production communities Ability to understand and articulate issues using creative, production or financial context
• Candidates must have ample experience working with local producers within Korea, producing local language content
• Broad understanding of production incentives and territory taxes
• Expert skill level of budgeting and cost reporting analysis
• Knowledge of Movie Magic Budgeting and production accounting system preferred
• College degree in accounting or finance is preferred
• Fluency in English and Korean required
