Manager, Corporate Communications (Canada)

The Role

We are seeking a curious, passionate and experienced individual contributor to join our PR team in Canada. The Manager, Corporate Communications (Canada) will be part of the team responsible for telling our brand story in the country. They should enjoy the challenge of juggling multiple projects, and finding new ways to creatively engage with media and other key stakeholders. This role is based out of the Toronto office. The ideal candidate has experience working for a large company while also having a strong understanding of the media and cultural landscape in Canada. They are entrepreneurial, creative, strategic and business-savvy, thriving in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Strong writing skills, a willingness to learn rapidly and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced culture are a key.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner closely with the PR Director, Canada to continue to develop the Netflix narrative in-country.
• Help manage PR and communications around local and global announcements.
• Work on communications related to our public policy priorities in Canada.
• Manage and maintain exceptional relationships with key reporters.
• Work in a productive and effective fashion with cross-functional teams inside Netflix.
• Proactively identify, map and preempt issues that could enhance or hurt the Netflix brand.
• Devise and implement stories and campaigns that help define the Netflix narrative with the media, our industry, partners and third parties.
• Write and shape our key corporate communications materials.
Qualications
• 7 years of corporate or agency experience - experience in entertainment is an asset.
• A solid and in-depth understanding of the cultural landscape in Canada.
• Proficiency in French.
• Strong media relationships with reporters from across the country.
• Demonstrated ability in using new and innovative ways of storytelling.
• Good track record in handling and successfully delivering on a high volume of complex projects and tasks.
• Clear and concise communication style that can effectively convey complex ideas written and verbally.
• Meticulous organizational skills, good judgment of brand and comms risks, and effective time management.
• Have a point of view, and be able to offer a unique perspective and voice.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $165,000 - $445,000.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
