Internal Communications Manager
Netflix
Los Angeles, CAThis is a Full Time Job
The Global Internal Communications team works behind the scenes to keep employees around the world informed about our business, inspired about the future, and connected with Netflix's mission-to entertain the world. We work closely with senior leadership to bring the company strategy and culture to life in a transparent and engaging way. From producing global town halls and shaping leadership meetings to fresh, creative experiences that bring employees along, this team has a front-row seat to what's happening across the business-and helps ensure everyone else gets a clear view, too.
We're a fast-moving, collaborative group that takes the work seriously, but not ourselves. We love what we do and genuinely enjoy working together-whether that's solving big comms challenges, obsessing over the details that matter (to serial comma or not to serial comma-there's a right answer), or jamming on creative solutions.
We're hiring a Manager, Internal Communications to participate in the core team that leads the overall production and content development for our large-scale company events (e.g., Company Town Halls, annual leadership summits, etc.). In this role, you'll report directly to the Sr. Director, Global Internal Communications to ensure each event hosts a strong line up that reflects the state of the business, features compelling content from our C-level executives, and that the production is designed in a way that keeps the experience fresh and engaging-with a few entertaining surprises that will keep attendees talking. In addition, this role will support the overall operations of the Global Internal Communications team in partnership with the Sr. Director, Internal Communications to ensure that the team is measuring the overall impact and effectiveness of everything that we do.
The person we're looking for is a strong, exceptionally organized communicator who is also a strategic thinker-connects the dots quickly and sees around corners to craft a strong communications approach. Also, the right candidate has a strong consultative approach, and knows how to ask the right questions to quickly understand different parts of the business and to build deep trust with their partners. Core partners will span senior leaders and teams deeper in the organization.
Core responsibilities include:
• Staying connected with the business to design global communications strategies, draft executive communications (including CEO comms), and manage key events (e.g., Company Town Halls, annual leadership summits, etc.).
• Building a consistent drumbeat of conversational and easy to understand business updates through core channels.
• Acting as a strategic advisor to guide leaders' communications styles and approaches that will help build connection and long-term trust with employees.
• Consistently reimagining new and creative ways to share information and engage audiences.
• Proposing solutions that are both flexible and scalable to the ever changing needs of the business.
• Co-designing a measurement strategy and system to consistently track the effectiveness of the overall team's communications.
To succeed in this role you will need:
• 7+ years of experience in communications, preferably within media, advertising, entertainment and/or technology industries
• Excellent written and oral communication skills-an expert simplifier
• Strong project management and analytical skills
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to work autonomously with a wide variety of internal partners at all levels
• To serve as a trusted partner and adviser to various leaders and teams across multiple disciplines, including the C-suite
• To be scrappy and entrepreneurial-eager to roll-up your sleeves and get work done leaning into new creative ways to connect with audiences
• Strong discretion when working with confidential or sensitive content
• Exceptional organizational skills, resourcefulness, good judgment, and effective time management
• Experience working across a variety of channels and tools (e.g., town halls, videos, broad email distribution, G-suite, Google chat, Slack, etc.)
• A passion for helping people and a curiosity about culture
• The ability to challenge established wisdom and work well cross-functionally
• A dislike of hierarchy and bureaucracy but also an understanding that some structure-as well as the ability to plan-is needed to work effectively at our size.
This role is based out of Netflix's Los Angeles office and reports to the Sr. Director, Global Internal Communications.
