Financial Analyst (DVD)
The Financial Analyst - DVD (Fremont) will be responsible for strategic business analysis across the Netflix DVD-by-mail business, with broad exposure to functions including content acquisition, hub operations, marketing, and customer service. The Netflix DVD-by-mail service kickstarted Netflix into a technology and media powerhouse, and today continues to delight nearly four million subscribers and meaningfully contribute to the company's bottom-line. We are looking for the best and brightest to drive analytics for key business decisions, financial modeling and forecasting. We derive a significant competitive advantage from the highly- analytical approach we take to managing the company. Senior management heavily depends on the Financial Planning and Analysis group to track trends in subscriber and financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement and drive important strategic decisions. This is a great opportunity for an analytical and financially-minded individual to make an impact in a highly-dynamic and energetic organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing analytics to better understand subscriber trends such as acquisition and retention
• Refine and build models to support the content acquisition team in their negotiations with owners of TV and Movie physical content rights
• Forecasting expenses and owning the budget for content acquisition
• Management reporting of key operational and financial metrics
• Developing insightful presentations that summarize data and facilitate decision making for senior Netflix management
• Supporting senior management on all relevant operating and financial analysis
• Develop, analyze and execute ideas to improve profitability, efficiency and subscriber retention
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2-5 years of experience in a management consulting, investment banking or corporate finance setting
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature, preferably Finance,
• Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting or related fields
• Very strong analytical ability including extensive experience developing complex Excel models
• Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive analysis and strategic thinking
• Ability to present complex analyses to senior management
• Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting preferred
• Extremely proficient with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages preferred
• Experience working with relational databases, regression analysis and data manipulation preferred but not required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines by exercising keen judgment
