About the Role
The External Affairs team manages external partnerships, including stakeholder engagement with third parties on key issues related to our content, as well as company sponsorships and industry programs. We are looking for a proactive self-starter with a diverse range of stakeholder engagement and communications experience, and strong third-party relationships within the entertainment space. This role reports to the Director, External Affairs and is based in our Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities
• Maintain and nurture relationships with key opinion formers, academics and experts that Netflix engages on key issues and opportunities related to our TV, films and games.
• Manage external expert consultation needs across our Content, Marketing and PR teams.
• Partner closely with our Policy and Global Affairs teams across a range of activities, ranging from sensitive content review to collaboration on proactive net contributor engagements.
• Create and support impact and net contributor efforts, including collaborating with Publicity and Marketing teams on title campaigns.
• Program manage a suite of talent development programs with external nonprofit partners.
• Execute business-driven sponsorships of industry institutions and other nonprofits, in alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Handle crisis-response issues timely, calmly and brilliantly.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience working in corporate communications, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility within a media/entertainment company, or related nonprofit.
• Strong familiarity with organizations and issues specific to the media, entertainment and tech industries.
• Experience partnering with domestic nonprofits, academic institutions, advocacy organizations and industry groups.
• Strong and flexible judgment regarding sensitive content and content policy frameworks, as well as brand and comms risks
• Crisis management and executive relations expertise; experience in working with press is a plus.
• Experience in developing brand campaigns in partnership with third parties.
• Ability to think from first principles and work well cross-functionally, including with external partners.
• Clear and concise communication style; strong written and verbal skills.
• Meticulous organizational skills and effective time management with a proven track record in successfully delivering on a high volume of complex projects and tasks.
• The ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment and stay calm under pressure.
