In EMEA, Netflix's business is growing and its Public Policy team is growing along with it.
Netflix is seeking a Director with extensive experience working in EU media policy, and in-depth knowledge of and facility with the EU AVMS legislation. This is a full-time position located at our Brussels office, and will report directly to the Vice President of Public Policy for EMEA.
The Director will partner with internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to media law and legislation at the EU level, with a particular focus on the implementation of the AVMS legislation in EU member-states. This person will monitor trends and changes in EU media legislation, educate external stakeholders and legislators about Netflix, and advocate for the company's positions on key media policy issues. With regard to the AVMS legislation, they will liaise with regulators during and after implementation and will lead and coordinate compliance with the new regulations. The Director will also partner with internal teams across EMEA to raise awareness of the AVMS laws and other developments and trends in EU media policy, and will develop strategies and frameworks for thinking about those trends.
The role will involve travel within Europe.
Candidate Requirements:
• Deep knowledge of and experience with AVMSD 2018 and its legislative history
• Specialized Experience in Public Affairs or in public service (regulator or ministry)
• Ability to deeply analyze legislative and legal documents
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex policy issues in simple, succinct terms
• Facility with building long-term relationships with internal and external stake-holders
• Structured and organized
• Eye for details
