Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs - Original Series (UK)

Our Original Series Content Legal team is seeking an experienced, intellectually curious lawyer to provide legal support for Netflix's original scripted series developed, produced and/or licensed in the UK. The Original Series Content Legal team has been instrumental in bringing a variety of award-winning scripted programming to Netflix subscribers, including The Crown, Stranger Things, and Black Mirror.
The successful candidate will work closely with the senior legal counsel and business affairs partners on the Original Series team to structure, negotiate and draft agreements necessary to develop, produce and/or license Netflix's UK-based scripted series, from script development through post-production and exhibition on Netflix's global streaming service. They should be extremely comfortable counseling business partners and making decisions that have both legal and business impacts, and should be adept at developing and fostering relationships with their counterparts within the UK production community. In addition to working closely with legal and business affairs partners, they will also closely collaborate with Netflix's various internal teams including Finance, Production and Post-Production departments. The role is based in London.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have four (4) to seven (7) years of post-qualification experience, either at a firm or production company, with a focus on development and day-to-day production matters in the television space. The candidate should have direct experience drafting and negotiating all forms of rights acquisition and production agreements for scripted television programming (including both above-the-line and below-the-line talent agreements). Experience drafting and negotiating acquisition/distribution licensing agreements for scripted series, as well as a practical working knowledge of the the U.S. television industry, is a plus.
