Netflix is revolutionizing the media and entertainment industry. One of the pioneer offerings is our premium streaming experience, which encompasses starting the Netflix app, signing in, scrolling through your personalized homepage, clicking play, and enjoying the content. This role will focus on the quality-based analysis on devices and the UIs that fuel the Netflix member experience. You would be a part of the Product Platform Strategy & Analytics partnering with the Consumer Engineering organization team.
A role is only as exciting and challenging as the problems being tackled. What's our quality challenge? Entertaining the world by delivering a best in class streaming experience for Netflix's scale (e.g. 220 million global members) given our technology stack and the device ecosystem landscape (e.g. thousands of devices and software combinations interacting with our complex microservice architecture running on Amazon Web Services). The work includes:
How much do members value streaming quality?
How does churn or cancellations interact with user disruptions during viewing?
What are the bottom ten device apps with the lowest quality score?
What contributes to their poor quality?
What other aspects of streaming beyond crashes, rebuffers, video quality should we consider as part of the holistic measurement of quality?
What are the appropriate thresholds for them?
In addition to intellectual curiosity and aptitude, we seek candidates who are excited by technology, either from a professional or personal standpoint. Since we are deeply intertwined with the engineering organization and our analytics often goes into technical areas , having the ability to connect Netflix's business themes to engineering projects and the related member benefits is critical for success. Also since Netflix being a self service data organization, previous experience with query languages such as SQL and Tableau or light data manipulation experience is preferred.
