This is a Full Time Job
The Writer is responsible for outlining and polishing the written content for their assigned entertainment daily show during tapings. The Writer is responsible for supporting the cases with accurate information of other related stories occurring around the world.
Job Duties:
• Assists producers in all aspects of the production of daily newscasts with a focus on writing
• Writes stories as assigned by producers, including readers, voice-overs, vo/sots, and anchor packages
• Applies solid news judgment while researching a variety of news sources and materials for stories and graphics creation
• Identifies and utilizes best video and sound bites for the stories assigned
• Works with the editors to maximize use of video and ensure accuracy
• Assists producers and reporters with research, creation of graphics and all aspects of final production (banners, supers, etc.)
• Follow appropriate procedures to get any required copyrights that may be necessary
• Confer with clients, editors, and producers to discuss changes or revisions to written material.
• Supports writing needs of other EDS as needed
• Works under the direct supervision of the General Producer and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years of news writing experience
• Experience in electronic publicity or on-air promotion as a writer
• Strong copywriting and editorial skills
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral)
• Must be “on call” 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
• Minimum 1 year of working experience with iNews
• Must be willing to facilitate personnel requirements including late and/or last minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
• Must be available to work (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, and natural disaster emergencies.
• Must be willing to travel, as needed and on weekends, with short notice.
