Role Summary
Universal Filmed Entertainment Group's (UFEG) Executive Vice President, Inclusion- Talent & Content for Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) has an exciting new opening for a Director, Strategic Analytics and Project Management reporting to the EVP. The role includes researching, tracking, and interpreting internal and external diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) data essential to formulating accountable strategies and goals that ultimately deliver measurable industry change in representation. Additional responsibilities include collaborating on research and data analytics with businesses across UFEG Comcast NBCUniversal. The candidate will partner with GTDI's Creative Talent Development & Content; Production Talent & Partnerships; and Communications & Marketing groups on project management associated with projects including, but not limited to, the development of programs and initiatives, film content assessment databases and resources, talent databases, website design and maintenance, as well as select DEI events.
Established in 2017 by Universal Filmed Entertainment Chairman Donna Langley, GTDI became the first-of-its-kind DEI department for a film studio. The business-led group ensures that DEI is at the forefront of Universal Pictures, Focus Features and DreamWorks Animation's work culture and content creation, both in front of and behind the camera. Building upon NBCUniversal's overall DEI commitment, GTDI creates industry access and identifies film production opportunities for underrepresented talent while partnering with its Television and Streaming counterparts on efforts impacting both film and television. Since its launch, GTDI has amassed an impressive and inclusive talent pool through its live action and animation writing programs; directing and composing initiatives; and below-the-line traineeships, with 30% of its talent securing production credits on NBCUniversal content.
Essential Responsibilities
Project Management
• Develop, implement and oversee departmental project management system
• Collaborate with GTDI executives, key stakeholders and external partners to define project objectives, deliverables, and launch dates for execution
• Outline budgets based on requirements and ensure projects deliver within budget commitments
• Organize project logistics, set schedules, track milestones
• Manage project connectivity flow across the team providing clear as well as consistent communication of project status to leadership, team members and relevant partners
• Schedule and run meetings to allow for planning updates throughout the course of a project with effective communication to all project team members and stakeholders
• Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies and develop plans to mitigate them
Strategic Analytics
• Identify, evaluate, and interpret internal and external DEI data such as UFEG production hiring, GTDI talent career momentum, competitive studio tracking and industry reports (e.g., Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, GLAAD Studio Responsibility Index) to inform business strategies
• Develop, implement, and maintain models/reporting packages to transform raw data into business insights for key strategy formulation and growth opportunities
• Create presentations and present analysis and conclusions to stakeholders
• Anticipate future DEI demands and trends providing potential recommendations and solutions for design and/or implementation of GTDI strategies
• Implement processes to enhance departmental efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration
Qualifications/Requirements
•7 years of data analysis experience
•4 years of industry experience at a studio, network, or streaming platform.
•3 years of project management experience
•Experience in navigating and negotiating with labor unions (e.g. WGA, DGA, IATSE) in connection with DEI pipeline talent strategies.
•Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
•Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources
•Excellent quantitative and analytical skills including significant modeling experience
•Proven instincts on how to use analytics to drive change, problem solve and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
•Experience working with and creating databases and dashboards.
•Strong programming skills with querying languages: SLQ, SAS, etc.
•Experience with big data tools: Teradata, Aster, Hadoop, etc.
•Experience with testing tools such as Adobe Test & Target
•Experience with data visualization tools: Tableau, Raw, chart.js, etc.
•Experience with Adobe Analytics and other analytics tools
•Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
