Music Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works closely with Producers (both in-house and 3rd party) in concept and theme analysis and contributes creative ideas, technical and legal knowledge regarding music selection, editing and integration for programming created by or for E! Networks and On Air Promotions
• Trains and supervises Music Coordinators, third party supervisors and/or post production staff in the selection of music for Network Productions and the operation of all related hardware and software applications
• Supervises and contributes creative ideas and technical knowledge in all aspects of music selection and integration with various productions, either directly, with a Music Coordinator or third party supervisor
• Supervises and executes deals with composers and productions for all scored or ‘work for hire” music ensuring timely delivery and service to the production while maintaining paperwork, registration and payment for proper administration of company copyrights and media
• Works with Productions directly and in conjunction with R&C to ensure compliance and legality of music use with relation to clearance, performing rights and other copyright concerns
• Works with Rights and Clearances department and publishing administrator to monitor accuracy and processing of Music Cue Sheets insuring legality of music used for programming as well as registration and exploitation of company copyrights and recordings
• Assists and Monitors all E! productions with respect to music libraries, Music Server Application, Music Server client database and all related data and information relating to Music.
• Maintains tracking and administration system for use of original and source music for all internal productions
• Maintains knowledge of, and access to, commercial music sources and vendors, providing constant supply of “popular” music to all productions within directed cost and resource parameters, negotiates estimates and rates beforehand allowing for creative and strategic planning prior to execution of licenses
• Is available and responsible for all music needs for assigned productions, ensuring timely delivery of music and music related data, as determined by production schedule.
• Supervises, operates, and is knowledgeable of all hardware and software used to record, convert and edit music according to broadcast standards
• Maintains an organized work environment



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Extensive knowledge of all genres of music
• Extensive knowledge of music licensing, clearance and contracts.
• Strong familiarity with leading production music catalogs and industry standard audio applications i.e. ProTools, Logic etc
• Relative experience in technical and legal issues as relating to music, databases, production, editing, commission and exploitation
• Three to Five + years experience in music supervision, with strong emphasis on music selection, clearance, and industry contacts.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to track and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication skills and the proven ability to work with and supervise others in a positive and professional manner
