Universal International Studios , a division of Universal Studio Group, is home to global talent and delivers award-winning content to millions across the globe. Based in London, the business' in-house production companies include: Carnival Films (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom), Monkey Kingdom (The Real Housewives of Cheshire & Jersey, Made in Chelsea), Working Title Television (We Are Lady Parts, Everything I Know About Love), Australian-based Matchbox Pictures (Stateless, Clickbait), and Heyday Television (The Capture, Clickbait). Universal International Studios also houses a London and LA-based scripted unit that develops and produces original series (Hanna, Dodger). OVERVIEW â€'' ROLE PURPOSE
An interim Development Associate is required to provide full creative and administrative support to Executive Producer Tom Coan, building and maintaining his slate of projects under the umbrella of Universal International Studios.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting the Executive Producer in the generation of new ideas - identifying IP and original ideas for development
• Developing scripts, treatments and other story documents with writers/directors, pitching them internally to studio executives, and externally to broadcasters and agents
• Proactively engaging with stakeholders, writers, directors, producers, agents and broadcasters, and being able to maintain those relationships independently
• Writing detailed and comprehensive notes for writers as well as actively participating in script/story meetings and story conferences
• Compiling writers lists, identifying top tier talent for specific projects
• Coordinating and updating the development slate, and ensuring that current projects are being tracked and pushed forward
• Providing creative input, script analysis, notes and coverage of new material
• Researching and meeting new talent as well as maintaining tracking lists
• Researching and compiling information regarding international markets, talent and IP
• Participating in the studios book call, tracking submissions from the studios book scout and identifying potential new projects
• Liaising with Business Affairs and ensuring any new business is filed and signed off correctly
• Helping coordinate local and international business activity, as well as coordinating both your own and the Executive Producer's diaries
• Basic administration â€'' maintaining google docs, files, expenses and everything related to the day-to-day running of CoanCo
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors degree
• Development and/or script editing experience within a studio, network, agency or production company
• Understanding of production, international co-productions and financing
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills
• Understand needs of networking
• Able to work well under pressure
• Must be a team player
• Good Microsoft office skills
