The NBCUniversal Law Department is seeking an attorney to join its Marketing & Promotions team, which provides support to marketing, promotions, brand franchise, events and publicity teams across NBCUniversal's Film and TV businesses. The position involves working with clients in entities including DreamWorks Animation Film and Television, Universal Pictures, and Focus Features. This position will be based at the company's Universal City, CA office.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for the following:
Drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements related to the advertising, marketing, promotion, publicity and exploitation of films, television shows, short form content and related IP, including licensing agreements; sponsorship, product placement, promotion and brand integration agreements; commercial tie-ins; book tie-ins; and charitable partnerships, as well as agreements related to the production, development and exploitation of creative content.
Drafting documents and reviewing all legal aspects of events and field marketing activities such as pop up shops, experiential live events, premieres and award shows, including venue, security, accommodation, transportation, food and beverage and related agreements.
Conducting rights review and analysis of distribution, acquisition and talent agreements.
Reviewing creative materials and advising on clearance and rights issues, and preparing necessary materials releases.
Providing advice on legal compliance and drafting terms and conditions, official rules and release forms for competitions, contests, and sweepstakes.
Advising on compliance with MPAA, FTC, NAD, COPPA and CARU guidelines, cases and decisions.
In consultation with Labor & Employment team, advising on SAG/AFTRA and SAG Commercials Contract issues related to advertising, marketing and exploitation.
In consultation with Privacy legal team, providing privacy-related advice in connection with promotions, marketing games, email and mobile campaigns.
Helping to draft and advise on companywide policies for social media, branded and custom content integrations, engagement of influencers and native advertising.
Qualifications:
Law Degree
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Member of the California State Bar, or willingness and qualification to be Registered in-house Counsel.
4+ years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, with at least 1 year of experience in marketing and advertising matters.
