The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for the distribution of tasks to the fabrication labor force ensuring the timely fabrication and assembly of the structural elements and components of scenery sets and projects, this includes but is not limited to walls, ceilings, stairs, cabinets, doors, windows, furniture, props and a multitude of other elements. The Carpenter Foreman assists the Carpentry Supervisor in the coordination and supervision of all carpentry activities and related or involved trades through various multiple assignments. This role will communicate and collaborate closely with all other Shop Foremen. The Carpenter Foreman is also responsible for the assembly & installation of these individual pieces that will complete the scenery or project element. The Carpenter Foreman is not tied only to the Scenic Fabrication Shop and will be required to work in multiple locations including sets, stages, off site locations, within the business campus and any other place where their trade may be required. The Carpenter Foreman is not limited to this specific trade and if his/her abilities and knowledge allow movement through other trades to provide support as required.
Job Duties:
• Assigns specific tasks to the carpentry group in a manner that will maximize workflow in the fabrication shop.
• Informs the Carpentry Supervisor, the Sr. Manager of Scenic Fabrication Operations and Scenic Fabrication Operations Coordinator of labor cost allocations.
• Responsible for planning and coordinating all activities and trainings with the Carpentry Supervisor and the Manager, Scenic Fabrication to ensure the proficiency of the Carpentry team to meet priorities, quality expectations and timelines.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Coordinates with the carpentry team to ensure timely assembly of different sets and helps ensure all sets are assembled based on the specifications provided by the Scenic Technical Solution team and/or the art department designers (Art Directors).
• Informs Carpentry Supervisor of issues with design documentation, timelines and material inventory.
• Assists the Set Builder Coordinator(s) in managing the inventory of completed sets and notifies when they are ready to be delivered.
• If assigned to a location other than the Carpentry Shop, the Carpenter Foreman will be responsible of completing any other tasks assigned to them by this location’s leader.
• Notifies Carpentry Supervisor of discrepancies in measurements and finishes.
• Utilizes hand and power tools as needed to help support the erection of forms, framework, scaffolds, to make bolt holes in timber and/or concrete, and to assemble and fasten material together.
• Escalates to the Manager of Scenic Fabrication Operations any concern related to personnel or contractors operating in the shop
• Assists in the loading, transport and unloading of all elements built and / or assembled.
• Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
• Operates aerial platforms & material handling equipment as required and permitted subject to certifications and qualifications.
• Ensures that all work is done under the technical guidelines and operations procedures of the Telemundo Fabrication Shop and adheres to EHS/OSHA regulations and procedures.
• Follows policies, applicable laws, and regulations to protect his/her own health and safety as well as that of other workers, the public, and the environment.
• Presents proactively ideas that support EHS goals and policies to the business or EHS leaders.
• Raises concerns about possible violations of EHS policies to managers, business and EHS Leader.
• Works under the supervision of the Carpentry Supervisor and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by his manager the Sr. Manager of Scenic Fabrication Operations.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or related field.
• Able to read and effectively utilize measuring instruments, such as tape measures and rulers.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and stationary carpentry and millwork equipment.
• Exhibits an understanding of creating and assembling sets and other requests as instructed.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs. of item(s) used in the creation of sets.
• Must be able to perform physical activities required of this position which includes, but is not limited to, climbing, lifting, balancing stooping, and handling of materials.
• Fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral).
• Must be able to perform job at various locations interior and outside work environment with varying weather conditions.
Desired Characteristics
• Previous experience in Carpentry trade within the entertainment industry.
• Previous experience in millwork, cabinet shops, home framing.
• Read / Interpret blueprints and construction documents.
• Exceptional communication, time management, analytical and organizational skills
• Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel, and work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.

• As this is a critical operations position, candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment
• Must be available to work (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

• This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
