The Audio Operator A1 is responsible for proficiently mixing high-quality audio (5.1 surround sound) for live or live to tape Entertainment, Talk, Sports, News Magazine, Network News, Digital Internet and mobile oriented television programming. The Audio Operator A1 will also be required on occasion to operate Pro-Tools, providing basic tracking/editing/mixing services.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for setting up & checking that all microphones, audio sources and media playback are adjusted for proper VU levels with correct enhanced equalization techniques
• Maintains acceptable short form Target Loudness levels (-24 LKFS)
• Responsible for ensuring the proper set up of IFB mix minus and Telos Systems for Live Shots and Telephone call-ins (REM's/TIFF's/IP Connections)
• Executes signal processing with Waves Soundgrid systems and external Digital Effects Processors
• Loads/Manipulates partial saves for RTS panels using AZ Edit communication software
• Responsible for the coordination of all RF/Wireless equipment (i.e., microphones, IFB and PL) as well as all studio foldback, PA & Live Sound Performance with assigned Audio Operator A2.
• Acts as the Pro Tools Operator that provides basic audio editing and mixing services as needed
• Performs additional audio duties, such as serving as Audio Operator A2 (Studio Audio support), Audio ENG Operator, and/or Audio Playback Operator
• Assists in the training and development of new Audio Operators A1s and/or Audio Operator A2s
• Provides immediate troubleshooting solutions in the event of equipment failure or other audio problems
• Collaborates closely with production teams to ensure creative goals are met
• Works under the direct supervision of Manager, Audio Operations and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by Manager or Supervisor as needed
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years of audio experience in a live television environment including news, talk, entertainment and sports programming or live audio applications
• Exhibits strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology as well as front of house and monitor mixing
• Exhibits operational knowledge of large/small format Digital and Analog broadcast audio consoles (especially LAWO/CALREC and Harrison Digital) and peripheral equipment including network broadcast A/V digital routers.
• Proficient in Avid iNEWS software or similar NRCS (ENPS, Dalet, Inception, etc.)
• Prior experience in studio and live remote production
• Exhibits understanding and ability to work in conjunction with automated control rooms.
• Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
Desired Characteristics
• Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering or Communications, Television Production preferred
• Prior experience in news, live sports, or entertainment programming preferred.
• Exceptional communication, time management, analytical and organizational skills
• Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment

• Must be available to work (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
• This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
