Responsibilities
NBCUniversal International Networks is the international entertainment channels group of NBCUniversal. Our head office is based in London and is responsible for a range of TV channels distributed throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America under the Syfy, Universal TV, E!, 13th Street, Studio Universal, Diva, DreamWorks and Telemundo channel brands. The group also handles international distribution of the Sky News and CNBC channel brands in Europe, Africa Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
This is a key leading transactional and management role in our legal team providing advice and support to various parts of our business. Key role responsibilities include:
- Day to day negotiation and drafting of channel carriage agreements and related channels contracting work;
- Negotiation and drafting of advertising, sponsorship and client partnership agreements;
- Legal research and general legal and business affairs advice on matters relating to channel distribution in multiple international jurisdictions with a primary focus on EMEA;
- Providing day-to-day interface and lead contact with commercial teams in London, Paris, Madrid and Singapore to ensure clear communication and proactive management of open matters;
- Advising finance, billing and technical teams on contractual rights and obligations;
- Supporting and working as directed or supervised by, and attending regular catch-up meetings with, the VP and keeping him/her fully apprised of current work, updates and priorities;
- Pro-actively identifying and promptly responding to clients' legal and business affairs needs;
- Direct supervision and management of others in the team; and
- Other tasks as may be requested.
Qualifications
and requirements
- Eligible to work in the UK;
- Qualified solicitor in the UK preferred (other jurisdictions considered);
- Senior in-house experience (team lead or deputy) in a comparable business;
- Significant PQ experience in drafting and negotiating channel carriage, content distribution and/or ad sales contracts required;
- Management and leadership experience within a diverse team;
- Ability to cope with high volume workload under time pressure, to work independently where required and to a high professional standard;
- A team-player with a track record of being an initiative-taker and of preparing ‘next steps' to support internal clients and business goals;
- Excellent drafting and communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail essential; and
- Flexibility and good interpersonal skills, with proactive can-do approach and ability to work as part of a team across business areas
