NBCU interns receive career prep, leadership exposure, connection to other interns, networking, and of course, all the fun you can imagine along the way. Because we know it can be challenging to balance coursework and internship commitments, we offer interns paid time off for mental health, school exams, and personal holidays.
To meet students where they are, we will host internships in both a virtual and in-person format. Opportunities listed will either be in-person based on the location mentioned or virtual, depending on business needs. Some of our internship opportunities that begin in September will continue through the Academic Year and end in April. Please be sure to read this carefully and note the internship dates, locations, and departments before applying.  
2023 â€'' 2024 Academic Year Internship Program:
• Applications Close: June 9, 2023, at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible â€'' don't delay!
• Program Dates: September 18, 2023 â€'' April 19, 2024
• Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

• Submit a one-page resume that outlines your work experience, accomplishments, and your graduation month and year.
• Submit a cover letter that highlights your passion for NBCUniversal, the locations (listed below) you are open to for internships, and your top areas of interest (opportunities listed below).
• Upload a transcript (unofficial transcripts are fine) that confirms your status as an actively enrolled student in a degree-granting program.
The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network's primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC's quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime's key demo, marking the network's third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.  
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
• Entertainment Communications - Late Night: Oversees publicity for the Late Night shows and various specials programming across the NBCU portfolio. Intern can expect to gain an in-depth understanding of publicity and insight into the numerous strategies the Entertainment PR team employs, and how they differ from show to show. They will receive exposure to any virtual press days/junkets, interviews, and events.
• Entertainment Communications â€'' Scripted: The scripted communications team supports PR efforts for all scripted series across NBCU broadcast and cable TV networks (NBC, USA, SYFY). While every day will be different, the scripted communications intern can expect to work with team members across both coasts and on a variety of series. Opportunities include (but are not limited to) helping track big stories surrounding series, research journalists, publications and trends, garner experience in PR-centric writing, attend team and series meetings, and more.
• Entertainment Communications â€'' Unscripted: The Unscripted Entertainment Communications team is responsible for press management across all networks. The Topicals, Docuseries & Genre pod handles all day to day communications surrounding some of TV's biggest shows, including “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,†“The Real Housewives†franchises, and “Summer House.†  The intern will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across our expansive portfolio and will gain hands-on experience in the unscripted PR and communications world.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
Desired Characteristics:
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Previous public relations experience is a plus, but not required.
• Familiarity with Muck Rack, Cision, and Google Alerts a plus, but not required.
The hourly rate for student interns is $17.00
