OVERVIEW
NBC News is looking for an Executive Producer to join the Engel Unit. You will work closely with the unit's director in leading a team that produces content with NBC News' Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel. As the Executive Producer you'll work to source, report and cover major news stories around the world, including coverage of breaking news, leading long form projects and oversight of investigative journalism projects.
The Engel Unit is responsible for producing Richard Engel's multi award winning coverage of international affairs for all NBC News platforms. The unit is focused on reporting and producing original content, whilst also covering major breaking news around the world. The unit is also responsible for producing long form shows on a regular basis. The Executive Producer for the unit will assist in leading a team of producers and will have the responsibility and oversight of all long form projects and will be involved in daily coverage and other content produced by the Engel Unit for all NBC News platforms.
The Executive Producer must have extensive experience of working for a US Network at the highest level and will preferably have a strong understanding of all NBC News platforms. You will have oversight of the work of all senior producers, producers, crews, producer/editors and associate producers, ensuring the safety, integrity and performance of everyone involved. As a leading member of the unit you will assist in overseeeing a team of producers and support their work to ensure the team works cohesively and by assisting from afar to make every story we produce better. Working with Richard Engel and the unit's director you will create compelling and important stories for all platforms, primarily for broadcast
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Managing complex schedules and logistics, and maintaining editorial oversight of multiple stories being shot simultaneously around the world.
• Overnight of keeping several long form shows on track, on budget and on time, while also handling breaking news when required.
• Coordinating with all parts of NBC News, MSNBC and digital platforms. Each of our production requires close coordination with many parts of the NBC family around the world. You will need to navigate these relationships and excel at coordinating the various processes that get a story on our NBC News platforms.
• Ownership of the production process, from pitching original, ambitious international stories, to supervising a sizable team in the field while reporting the story, all the way back to writing the script and supervising the edit process.
• Travelling occasionally, as required, sometimes at short notice to chase stories wherever they are around the world.
• Working well within a team devoted to fast-paced and unpredictable coverage. You will need to be flexible, loyal to your colleagues and focus at all times on how to make the story â€'' any story â€'' better.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Educated to Bachelors Degree level or the equivalent work experience
• Must have at substantial experience as a senior producer at a major broadcast network
• Must have strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
• Must have extensive experience of coverage of international news at a major US broadcast network
• Must have knowledge of world affairs and current events, geopolitics, US foreign policy and history
• Demonstrable experience producing live and taped segments of major international events.
• Must be proficient in Outlook, iNews, twitter, Facebook, etc
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Full English language capabilities
• Work flexible hours (including weekends) under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
• Travelling occasionally, as required, sometimes at short notice to chase stories wherever they are around the world.
