Its multiplatform sales & distribution footprint includes theatrical, physical, digital (PVOD, SVOD & Transactional), TV (Free & Pay) as well as consumer products. The business uniquely focuses on managing talents, partnerships, brands and titles across all rights and across their full lifecycle. It is a business rooted in Artists and repertoire (A&R) culture, driven by relationships, innovation and ambitious growth plans.
This role is focused on developing, producing and acquiring content that is targeted to the faith and values-based audience. Additionally, the role will be helping to manage what is owned content under the Big Idea content group umbrella, the VeggieTales franchise with its various businesses and content strategy. Content under the Big Idea content group can include a range of genres: documentaries, TV series, kids and family specials/series and other content. The successful applicant will drive commercial success with the ability to develop global pitches for a wide variety of platforms, creating materials and liaising and/or partnering with 3rd parties to create world-class content.
The Director, Big Idea Content Group, will collaborate widely across the UPCG business teams, including our Acquisitions team, Content Strategy team, Originals Team, TV Distribution team, and other departments as required.
Key to this role is the ability to spot stories that appeal to the audience, an understanding of content production and how to cast talent, first-rate presentation skills, excellent written and verbal communication, a committed attitude and the ability to think both commercially and creatively in building innovative strategies to maximize commercial potential behind content we either develop or acquire.
Key Responsibilities
• Take ownership in building a continuing pipeline of content concepts that are put forward for vetting by appropriate channels.
• Deliver effective, creative, content pitches to the various internal teams as part of the development and greenlight process.
• Support VeggieTales franchise business and content initiatives including script reviews, input on AVOD and social channels short form content, publishing, and music.
• Work closely with the SVP Big Idea Content Group to deliver annual and quarterly broader team and business goals.
• Research and regularly provide summaries on audience trends and content comps that considers the changing media landscape and nuances.
• Support and present at internal meetings and ad hoc slate presentations both for original and acquired content providing the research, content synopsis, potential distribution targets and other material as required.
• Collaborate and build strong relationships with filmmakers, producers, licensors and talent.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments (e.g. Acquisitions, Content Strategy, Operations, NBCU Distribution & Sales, and Legal teams).
• Work closely with the SVP of Big Idea Content Group to build the Big Idea brand internally and externally.
Qualifications
Required
• Minimum 5 years experience in developing producible content/stories preferably to the faith-based audience and ideally within entertainment/International/theatrical and/or home entertainment, with sound knowledge of how consumers access our content - cinema, digital, DVD, SVOD and TV.
• First-rate time management skills â€'' able to develop and manage a critical path and multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills. Confident and credible presenter, able to inspire when presenting to both small and large, diverse groups.
• Able to demonstrate innovation and imagination in approach.
• Ability to think and act strategically.
• Good negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
• Good commercial understanding and acumen.
• Experience of managing budgets.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Salary Range: $125,000-$175,000; bonus eligible, not long-term incentive eligible.
