Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Counsel/Senior Counsel, News Group, will focus on digital and technology transactions for the News Group, covering a broad range of platforms and deal types. The position is based in New York.
Responsibilities:
• Draft, negotiate and review digital and technology-focused agreements, including SaaS agreements, software and technology licenses, MSAs, content licenses, digital distribution agreements and e-commerce agreements.
• Provide legal support to Digital Technology, Product & Design, Digital E-Commerce, Technology Systems Engineering, Sourcing and Business Development.
• Advise on the development of websites, mobile apps, podcasts, streaming services and other digital/technology platforms and products.
• Coordinate with Privacy and Information Security to ensure personal data and confidential information is collected, used and secured in accordance with laws and company requirements.
• Advise clients regarding contractual rights and duties, matters of contract interpretation and pre-litigation dispute resolution.
• Support and partner with legal colleagues in the News Group; contribute to an inclusive, collaborative team culture; take initiative to deliver value and support the production and distribution of the highest quality news content in the industry.

• A minimum of 5 years commercial legal experience, including substantial experience with digital and technology transactions. Experience in the news or entertainment industry preferred.
• Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school or comparable law school outside of the United States.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar of New York or another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel.
