Responsibilities
The Position
The Senior Vice President, Production & Operations position has responsibility for the HR management, oversight, planning, infrastructure and operational deliverables required for NBC's domestic and international sports coverage, inclusive of the Olympics and studio and remote productions and operations for NBC Sports in broadcast and cable. The role requires a strategic partner for various business executives, who is well-seasoned in corporate HR competencies and capable of driving key HR initiatives and solutions. This position will report to the SVP, Business Operations & Human Resources, NBC Sports Group and be based out of Stamford, CT, with additional, significant travel commitments particularly for the Olympics which occurs every other year.
Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
• Interact as a trusted business partner with designated senior management of client groups by driving the human resources strategies for the business
• Uncover, assess and propose opportunities for HR process improvements and lead the successful implementation of such improvements
• Drive key HR and production operation initiatives and solutions across designated departments, including staffing, performance management, compensation planning and production payroll, succession planning, training and development, rewards and recognition, organizational effectiveness, labor relations, and employee communications
• Develop and drive diversity initiatives in partnership with the NBC Sports Group and NBCUniversal
• Partner and collaborate with various business leaders on growth strategies and cost challenges; provide HR guidance and input on decisions and execute in order to enable these strategies
• Work with operational and production department leaders and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment consistent with our company values and which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities of the employee populations
• Work with managers to build a career path for employees, identifying opportunities for training, new skill acquisition, and advancement
• Work closely with Labor Relations on collective bargaining issues, resolving grievances, and furthering NBCUniversal's relationships with its unions where applicable; proactively solve workplace issues and further NBCU's relationships with its union and non-union employees
• Manage employee contract negotiations, extensions, performance issues and terminations in collaboration with the Legal Department and corporate Human Resources
• Help to drive change within the organization, to include adoption of new technologies, workflows, staffing models, and organization structures
• Provide interpretation of HR policies, practices and procedures to employees and managers
• Effectively manage HR teams and position them for development and success in the function
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
• Minimum of 10 years professional HR experience, with demonstrated experience in managing staff and client groups in operational settings

• Strong business partnership and ability to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders
• Experience as a senior HR practitioner within a media/production environment a major plus
• Open and easily approachable
• Must be detail-oriented and organized, with excellent follow-through and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a team of HR professionals and lead projects from strategy to execution
• Capable of adapting traditional HR experiences to needs and demands of the industry
