Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Director, Scripted Programming will manage the development and production of scripted programming across the Universal International Studios portfolio. They will also manage the creative relationship with the partner and owned production companies, providing creative expertise and industry contacts to pursue an increase in volume, quality and value of show development, sales, and production. This role will report to the SVP, Scripted Programming.
Responsibilities:
• Field pitches, identify trends, and deliver on the strategic development goals of Universal International Studios scripted series for the US-based & streaming global market
• Generate ideas for new projects for both our Production Companies and for our internal studio slate
• Work with leaders of portfolio companies in UK, Australia, Canada, and other locations around the world.
• Partner with leadership and internal partners on how best to grow business for Universal International Studios with external networks, buyers, and talent.
• Leverage existing relationships with producers and networks to field the pitch and program sales process for both studio slate and production slate projects.
• Work to ensure a consistent level of quality is achieved and maintained on scripted creative fronts. Serve as a creative custodian/troubleshooter/problem-solver on both current projects and scripts in development, providing creative feedback and guidance, as needed.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, creative risk-taking and fiscal responsibility.
• Maintain strong relationships with all internal stakeholders, as well as agency heads and high level talent, to cement Universal International Studios and their portfolio partners as a desired destination for suppliers and talent.
Qualifications
/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 6 years of narrative scripted series experience in development
• Extensive experience as a scripted TV programming development and/or production executive and/or producer.
• Established track record of successful program sales.

• Must have work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
Desired Characteristics
• Previous International experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Extensive relationships globally with network development executives, writers, producers, and agents.
• Established track record of successfully wooing and managing talent, and being a creative executive with a reputation for great taste.
• Proven understanding of the entertainment production process, including production costs, timelines, and production cycles, especially knowledge internationally.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a complex array of relationships, including peers, colleagues, and superiors, with a special emphasis on communicating creative goals and the value of intellectual properties to various constituents.
• Clear history of thriving in a high-volume, fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate a sophisticated, yet highly commercial creative taste
• Ideal candidate must be willing to travel as needed. Travel requirements may range from 4-8 weeks per year.
