Director, Human Resources, ANZ (12 months Parental Leave)
Responsibilities
The HR Director, ANZ is a true business partner to the NBCUniversal diverse group of businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Based in Sydney, Australia, this role leads and drives the HR agenda with both a people centric and commercial focus. All aspects of the employee life cycle are managed and the best employee experience is pursued. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the people strategy to facilitate the achievement of strategic priorities, including the identification and planning of critical initiatives in alignment with global and regional strategies. This role will also be responsible for the local operational implementation and for the management of the function. To be successful in the role it is essential to establish strong and trusted partnerships with local business leaders, international based HR leaders and centralized specialist functions.
The HR Director, ANZ also supervises the ANZ HR team to ensure all necessary day to day operational tasks are delivered effectively. The role reports to the VP, Human Resources Asia Pacific based in Singapore. The role is a member of the local leadership teams across all ANZ businesses and is part of the broader APAC HR Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Business Partnership
• Demonstrates strong personal leadership and ownership in all business interactions and is a role model
• Is an effective Business Partner for local Leaders, acting as a sounding board and change agent to drive and implement the desired behavioural and organizational changes
• Drive business conversations in partnership with local leadership to provide solutions for people related challenges
• Provide in country expertise as well as forward thinking for the full scope of HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition, reward, employee engagement and organizational design and change
• Collaborates readily and actively consults with HR peers and colleagues regionally and globally
HR Programs
• Design and delivery of programmatic pursuits for exceptional employee experience
• Provide advice on overhead impact (i.e. costs for HC, recruitment, promotions, market adjustments, consultancy fees)
• Responsible for HR projects, programs and initiatives across all businesses in ANZ and ensure compliance as well as deliver quick solutions to fit local needs
Talent Management & Acquisition
• Lead local talent management programs including Talent Review, Performance Management and Succession Management by coaching people leaders, providing advice and support, contributing to building a culture of continuous development and feedback
• Responsible for sourcing of the best talent and creating talent pipelines for key critical roles. Drive and support the recruiting, testing, and interviewing program in cooperation with the International Talent Acquisition group
• Be an ambassador for the NBCUniversal brand and proactively create brand awareness guided by the employee value proposition, enhancing online presence and attending networking and career events
• Run and improve the localized Internship program in partnership with local education providers
Compensation and Benefits
• Implement C&B initiatives and lead the implementation of the annual salary review process in line with guidelines and in connection with performance
Learning & Development
• Analyse training needs against local business strategy and employee skill gaps for the mid to long term, have a proactive role in defining and ensuring the delivery of training initiatives
• Active support of talent development and employee engagement projects. Ensure the implementation of the Annual Talent review process
• Ensure professional development planning and digital training initiatives are delivered for employee skills enhancement
• Partner with Talent Development Function to plan and deliver Leadership capability enhancement programs
Employee Relations & Policies
• Support a culture of trust and open & honest communication. Train and coach managers and employees on best practices and instil the companies values
• Be a trusted partner for managers and employees in addressing and handling difficult conversations and mediate where appropriate to achieve mutual understanding and an enjoyable work environment
• Being proactive and anticipate change, providing critical and timely input about consequences and implications of local law to all internal stakeholders
• Support and train managers to coach their team and take disciplinary actions if needed; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counselling employees and supervisors
• Conducting investigations; responsible for maintenance of records; representing the organization at hearings if needed
Employee Engagement
• Delivery of employee engagement measurement initiatives including ourSurvey, quarterly Manager Polling and Great Place to Work Australia survey.
• Preparation of Workplace Gender Equality Agency reporting
• Creation and delivery of employee engagement programs including Recognition and Flexible/Agile working
Workplace and Environment
• Advises, designs and implements local labour condition needs, assuring a safe and healthy work place for employees.
• Adheres to legislation and remains compliant
Qualifications
/Requirements
Degree level qualification or equivalent in Human Resources and/or Commerce
Strong knowledge of current Australia and New Zealand employment laws and regulations
Excellent written and spoken English
Substantial years HR experience of which minimum 5 years in a leadership and business partnering capacity within a dynamic multinational environment
Business-savvy and credible sparring partner with strong influencing skills
An agile 'can do' mentality that can shift from acting hands-on to strategic thinking
Resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks
Ability to navigate through a complex, matrix business and provide the appropriate partnership and support to local stakeholders
Demonstrable ability to understand and promote the link between business and operational priorities and HR activities
Excellent relationship and communication skills, able to adapt between the cultural nuances of areas/businesses
Outstanding analytical skills and ability to draw correlation between data, trends and key actions to affect positive business outcomes
Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with internal and external customers and be a trusted source
Forward thinking with passion and creativity, not afraid to challenge the status quo
Foster an empathetic and inclusive culture and ability to provide guidance and coaching to the HR team
