Position Overview
The Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs will serve as an attorney supporting NBC Sports Group and its sports properties, including NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, NBC Sports Regional Networks, and NBC Sports Next (including GolfNow and SportsEngine).
Responsibilities:
• Lead in-house attorney for all NBC Sports Group production, operations, engineering, sourcing and information technology legal matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements including production service agreements, vendor contracts, drone and aviation agreements and operational agreements (including engineering, equipment and logistics).
• Serve as primary lawyer with respect to NBC Sports owned and operated events.
• Liaise with (i) NBCUniversal entertainment lawyers regarding sports-related documentaries and other similar projects for Peacock and other platforms; (ii) NBC Sports Group Talent executives regarding legal issues relating to broadcaster contracts; and (ii) NBCUniversal labor and employment lawyers regarding union matters.
• Partner with clients, as well as colleagues in the NBCUniversal Legal Department, to develop and implement best practices (in areas such as cyber security, compliance and insurance) and formulate new processes in connection with business needs and priorities.
• Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and creative team culture.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• 4 years of experience at a law firm or comparable in-house position.
• Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school or comparable educational institution in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Member of a state bar in good standing.

• Ability to develop strong working relationships; exercise sound, practical judgment; manage multiple wide-ranging matters; work independently and part of a team in a fast-paced environment; proactively identify legal issues and resolve them quickly; embrace new or creative legal models and accept reasonable levels of risk.
• Capable of providing practical legal advice to members of business team at all levels.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
• Experience in broadcast media or sports business, and/or an interest in sports, a plus.
Additional Requirements:
• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
