NBCUniversal owns and operates over 20 different businesses across 30 countries including a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks and a premium ad-supported streaming service. The Freelance Technical Logistics Specialist will provide key administrative support to the Director - Technical Logistics for the Olympics and Sports projects. This will include assisting with the planning and execution of all shipping and logistical functions for domestic and international. This position will potentially travel to Olympic Host city for multiple months in support of the in-country logistics operation.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a project/limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 24 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. This position will be expected to work out of the Stamford, CT and Monroe, CT facilities. Candidates must be able and willing to travel regularly to either location.
Responsibilities:
The role will be responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipping and logistical services for NBC Sports and Olympics in the areas of broadcast and production equipment, supplies and services. This will include but is not limited to:
• Analyzing transportation strategies and networks, understanding country specific requirements, internal and external customer specific requirements, handling expediting requirements from supplier to receipt, regulatory requirements, and related functions that provide the required customer service levels and processes to attain project service goals.
• Managing administration work for the international logistics process, including keeping record and collecting compliance information (ECCN, Schedule B, HTS numbers, etc.) from manufacturers and vendors, financial invoice record keeping, and preparing shipping documents for international transport.
• Booking, tracking, and coordinating domestic and international shipments across multiple carriers and modes of transportation.
• Taking part in warehouse functions when needed, including packing boxes, moving pallets, loading trucks, etc.
• Coordinating:
• operations with carriers and freight forwarders for international and domestic transportation services
• domestic and international trade compliance procedures and adherence including customs import/export compliance as well as internal audit compliance
• shipping documentation across all areas, suppliers, and modes
• communications and expediting from order to receipt with NBC suppliers
• Work together with the internal and external customers and suppliers on shipping schedules and load planning
• Lead any distribution and transportation related customer issues and resolution
Desired Characteristics:
• Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels in support of internal customer relationships
• Willingness to work in an office and warehouse environment where you will be asked to lift boxes 25 pounds or more, handle material handling equipment and pallets, and perform other warehouse physical duties.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Minimum 2 Years of Experience in Logistics Field
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven working knowledge and understanding of Customs procedures requirements
• Proven experience coordinating domestic and international airfreight and ocean freight shipments
• Proven experience in inventory management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical, technical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet strict time frames with limited /no errors
Additional Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
