This is a Full Time Job
The NBC News Washington Bureau is looking for an extraordinary producer to support Andrea Mitchell with newsgathering and highly produced stories across all NBC News platforms. We are seeking a highly motivated journalist with a passion for covering and reporting both domestic and international stories.
Responsibilities
• Pitch, produce and write, and fact check stories for all NBC News platforms, with a focus on planned events, breaking news, cross-platform contributions, features, and news-of-day stories
• Conduct reporting, interviews, and research for original stories
• Maintain thorough understanding of domestic and international stories
• Coordinate with leadership across all shows and platforms on the progress of stories, key news developments, and all correspondent-related requests
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must have at least five years editorial production experience at the network level
• Must have a bachelor's degree
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment
• Must be proficient in social media
• Travel as required, both domestically and overseas
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Must have a valid passport
• Must be willing to live and work in DC
• Expected to be in the office during the workweek (5 days) when not traveling / in the field
Desired Characteristics:
• Strong news judgment and work ethic
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well on a team
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking ability
• Foreign language skill(s)
• Knowledge of non-linear editing systems including Avid
• Solid knowledge of newsroom systems
