Responsibilities
As a News Booker you will be part of NBC News' Booking Unit, responsible for bookings guests across all platforms of NBC News, including TODAY, Weekend TODAY, Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, Meet the Press, Dateline, Specials, NBC News Now, and all other digital properties.
Responsibilities:
• Work on short-term and long-term bookings across the multiple platforms of NBC News including TODAY, Weekend Today, Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, Meet the Press, Dateline, Specials as well as digital platforms.
• Expected to travel on very short notice to be the primary booking liaison in the field for NBC News.
• Must be willing to stay in certain locations for extended periods of time, especially during breaking news and huge news stories.
• Act as conduit between booked guests and the various shows regarding show appearances and all logistics involved, including travel as well as arranging pre-interviews.
• Help craft discussion topics/talking points with producers and talent, and always looking for unique pitches/stories for viewership across news broadcasts.
• Expected to stay on top of all long-term booking pursuits and travel for meetings, court hearings, and updates when needed.
• Use relationships with crisis teams and talent representatives to craft strategic cross platform proposals for exclusive interview opportunities.
• Coordinate breaking news for network in high stress situations while managing expectations across the news division.
• Lead control room communication during live television broadcasts, special reports and special coverage.
• Constantly looking to discover new talent or interview opportunities and voices to build programming/segments.
• Knowledge of the news booking shifts to help support in an as needed basis.
Qualifications
/Requirements
• 7 years of experience in news.
• Experience in public relations or crisis communications
preferred.
• Must be willing to live and work in New York, NY
• Established network of contacts and relationships within
the news community.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment and adapt to
changes easily.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Must be a news junkie, familiar with broadcast news
media landscape and well versed in historical and
cultural moments.
• Detail oriented and organized. Able to manage many
stories at once with success and strategy.
• A great attitude and ability to collaborate internally and
externally are essential
• Conversational ability or fluency in other languages is a
plus
• Proven ability to both lead and follow
• A proven people person, eager to establish and grow
relationships for the network
