Full Time Unpaid Internship
JOB DESCRIPTION
National Geographic Partners offers professional training experience in visual storytelling including in immersive experiences. This internship is an opportunity to learn alongside a team of technologists and editors who are experimenting with storytelling methods in new mediums such as virtual reality, 360 video, augmented reality, Snapchat, audio, and other mobile-first interactive experiences. The intern will have the advantage of working alongside editors to identify and adapt stories so that they best serve various mediums.
Five Principal Learning Opportunities

1. Attend digital story meetings and help identify opportunities for immersive storytelling mediums.

2. Receive, offload, stitch and edit 360 video, learn about storytelling in for various mediums from NG editors and producers.

3. Work alongside graphics designers to propose and design data visualization possibilities in 3D/VR environments and for mobile storytelling.

4. Work on 3D model optimization for augmented reality projects, including delivering decimated models, normal & specular maps and other UV textures.
20 %
5. Working with editors, photographers, explorers to research VR equipment, provide production support for 360 video assignments.

Qualifications
While individuals of all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply, applicants should have prior experience in research or journalism.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Analytical and organized
• Ability to handle and prioritize simultaneous projects and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment
• The rules for virtual and augmented reality are still being written, a creative and experimental spirit is required.
• Knowledge of Premiere, Unity, Mistika/Autopano and other VR software a plus.
• Knowledge of VR community and storytelling techniques.
To participate in Fox's Internship program you must meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and be sophomore status or above
• Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company
• All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
