JOB DESCRIPTION
National Geographic is looking for a Line Producer to manage and supervise factual, character-led, natural history, and/or unscripted programming produced by third party production companies for linear and SVOD platforms. As Line Producer, you will work closely with Development and Production Executives and their teams to achieve the highest production value and editorial quality while ensuring productions are delivering on budget and on schedule.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for the management and supervision of approximately 30-40 productions averaging over 125 hours of factual, character led, natural history, and/or unscripted programming produced by third party production companies for linear and SVOD platforms. Review budgets and schedules, process and track project payments, review cost reports and oversee deliverables management.
• Collaborate with Development and Production Executives and their teams to achieve the highest production value and editorial quality while ensuring productions are delivering on budget and on schedule.
• Collaborate with various NG and Disney departments, including Business Affairs, Legal, Operations, Marketing, Communications, and Production Safety & Security.
• Ensure linear and SVOD platforms production and technical requirements are met and manage plus troubleshoot production issues as they arise including risk management, background checks, insurance, rights and release issues, compliance etc.
• Ensure that productions are delivering in accordance with linear and SVOD standards.
• Liaise with Finance on all financial related aspects of projects, including cash flows, pay schedule, production company on-boarding.
• Provide daily supervision, management, and development of Unit Manager, and partner with all assigned productions from greenlight through final payment.
• Execute annual performance reviews and any HR related needs.
• Staff management.
• Develop production partnership and to understand allocation of production funds.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key production vendors to create cost and workflow efficiencies that could benefit productions on all platforms.
• Develop beneficial relationships in the production marketplace.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives of Production Management department, as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
• 8+ years of production experience in the unscripted and documentary market focusing on high investment, character led, and/or natural history series.
• Prior experience working at a Network or SVOD platform and/or with Network or SVOD deliverables preferred.
• Over 200 hours of field experience in unscripted and documentary programming preferred.
• Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be proficient with MS software applications and adapt quickly to learning new technology, software and systems for internal company use.
• A self-starter with the ability to prioritize among multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong knowledge of production logistics and workflow, industry technology, rights issues, and current industry standard practices.
• Experience in overseeing and creating budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment with tight deadlines.
