National Geographic is looking for a Director of Content Operations who will be responsible for leading the post-production Streaming and Content Operations teams who organize, prioritize and deliver thousands of hours per year of original and legacy titles of National Geographic Content. The Director is responsible for a comprehensive content pipeline that delivers tailored content to the following outlets based on very tight deadlines: Disney+, Star, Hulu, Electronic Sell Through, Linear networks: NGC, Nat Geo Wild and Mundo, Content Sales, Festivals, Events, Awards Shows, and Theatrical Screenings. The Director will also provide first class operational/technical support and workflow recommendations to various Nat Geo Content Partners.
Responsibilities
• Lead the post-production Streaming and Content Ops. teams who are responsible for delivering thousands of hours per year.
• Liaise with streaming teams at Disney+ GCO, LTS, DSS, DCVI, and Hulu to optimize technical and operational workflows, consistently providing high-quality daily support and updates as the point of contact for all final media assets coming from National Geographic Content (both originals and legacy).
• Collaborate with Production Management to optimize streaming workflows and timelines with third party companies and internal NG Studios productions from pre-production to final mastering.
• Liaise with the global DMED programming strategy teams by mastering current/next-day and library content for Disney+, Star, and Hulu, which consists of conforming older assets to current technical standards, making censorship or subtitle removal edits, and researching media and versioning histories.
• Oversee the roll-out and upkeep of next-generation technology applied to post-production and mastering workflows, which keep National Geographic Content at the forefront of technical standards required for streaming.
• Collaborate with mastering teams at Marvel, LucasFilms, PIXAR, Hulu, and Disney Channels to roll-out new mastering and servicing workflows for Ultra-High Definition (UHD), Dolby Atmos Sound, Interoperable Master Format (IMF), Photo Sensitive Epilepsy testing (PSE), Localization Format Checks, and other next-gen technology adapted for Disney+, Star, and Hulu.
• Stay up to date with SMPTE standards and dedicate resources to test next-gen technology with our software and vendor partners that are used in Nat Geo's mastering workflows to Disney+. Star, and Hulu.
• Provide first class operational/technical support and workflow recommendations to Nat Geo Production, Nat Geo Programming, Disney+ Global Content Operations (GCO), Disney Character Voices International, Disney Streaming Services (DSS), and Disney Library and Technical Services (LTS).
• Acting as the streaming point-of-contact for National Geographic Content's final assets, continuously strive for operational excellence by solving problems, facilitating ongoing communication and collaboration throughout the upstream and downstream ecosystem. Analysis may also be made on new editing/audio software, hardware, formats, platforms, training, and client needs.
• Orchestrate data analysis tools to create reports based on Senior Management's goals, working with the systems teams to develop enhancements that optimize reporting.
Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in Network Operations, Post-production, and media system technologies.
• Must have experience running effective teams consisting of multiple disciplines.
• Must have experience in both Linear Networks (Domestic & International) and Streaming Operations.
• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands at once as well as keep dozens of employees on-task.
• Must be an effective, collaborative communicator, with an ability to lead and make decisions quickly.
• Must be able to clearly communicate with internal and external clients regarding risks, technical specs, and overall challenges.
• Proven ability to creatively solve problems and meet commitments without fail.
• Experience with Dalet, VPS, Frame.Io, ScheduALL, AWS Workspaces is helpful.
• Proven attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
