JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director, Awards will establish and execute year-round awards / guild strategy for National Geographic, National Documentary Films and Disney Branded Television. The role reports into the Sr. Director, Media Relations, National Documentary Films and the VP of Communications.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute awards campaign strategy for National Geographic, National Documentary Films and Disney Branded Television. This includes but not limited to: management of consultants; developing strategy; FYC mailings and events; outreach to all awards organizations; being the awards lead in dealing with internal producers and publicists and media; and tracking awards submissions managing awards budgets and agencies.
• Successful management of awards strategy for global programs, resulting in streamlined messaging, effective and efficient execution of awards opportunities, and stronger awareness across awards media, voters and guilds.
• Work with PR Team and Consultants to ensure press campaign strategy aligns with award campaign strategy. Facilitate talent participation in award ceremonies and industry events, working directly with the PR Title Team assigned to specific campaigns. Liaison with Nat Geo/DBT executives/management and outside consultants to keep them updated on key awards season details and dates. Create awards campaign overall presentations/decks for filmmaker and executive sign-off. Work with marketing strategy team for print/trade ad media buy and recommend ad buy strategy/timing for digital, radio and outdoor media. Consult on ad designs. Manage content population and screening outreach to guilds with network operations team, including platform for assets, access and code management. As part of the BTL campaign outreach, collaborate with BTL artists and PR Team to ensure representative clips, reels and unit photography for award submission and promotion are delivered in a timely manner.
• Strong internal and external partnerships will result in successful execution of awards campaigns and submissions.
• Liaison with leaders at TV & Film Academy, guilds and other awards organizations. Handle all required AMPAS and guild submissions for awards. Serve as network liaison with the following groups for all awards-related business including, but not limited to: AMPAS, AFI, BAFTA, BFCA, DGA, HFPA, NAACP, PGA, SAG and WGA. Handle all required AMPAS and guild submissions for awards. Plan AMPAS and guild screening programs and Q&A opportunities – streaming or live. Oversee planning and execution for select film/talent tastemaker screenings/receptions.
• High level of awareness for network content to elevate visibility.
Requirements:
• 6-9 years experience at a studio/ network, creative agency/ branded content studio or in an entertainment marketing environment.
• Excellent written, communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing and tracking awards budget.
• Able to use MS Office, Outlook + Google docs.
• Highly organized, professional, motivated, and extremely detail-oriented with strong prioritization skills. Must have ability to multitask, work well under pressure and work effectively under changing priorities, deadlines, and daily time constraints.
• Extensive knowledge of the Awards industry and experience running and managing FYC creative campaigns; Experience communicating campaigns and creative with filmmakers;
• Executive-level collaboration experience required.
• Experience in design of physical brand experiences for Awards media, stunts and events.
• Basic knowledge of A/V needs/formats preferred.
