JOB DESCRIPTION
Department/Group Overview:
Nat Geo Media is a worldwide digital, social and print publisher, operating in over 170 countries, with several print and digital products and over 1/2 a billion followers on social media. Our mission is to inspire curious fans of all ages through bold and innovative storytelling about people, places and projects that shape our world, and enable our fans to connect, explore, engage with and care about the world.
This team is responsible for engaging our audience consumers with fantastic storytelling and pulling them into a recurring revenue relationship with Nat Geo. The Nat Geo Media team covers everything on the consumer journey, from print, digital, social, and audio content creation, generating awareness through social and newsletters, acquisition, and retention marketing, print operations, international licensing, and digital platforms.
Job Summary:
This role will report directly to the EVP and General Manager for Nat Geo Media. This person will be a critical member of the Leadership Team responsible for coordinating strategic business initiatives that cut across multiple teams.
The responsibilities of this role include:
• Direct manager to support function employees, and potentially an individual contributor project manager
• Manage workflow process, coordinating with EVP's directs and other key stakeholders to ensure key milestones and materials requirements are met.
• Understand the calendar and collaborate with Executive Assistant to prioritize time and schedule.
• Draft letters, emails, presentation decks, meeting agendas, and other correspondence
• Relay information in meetings and phone calls with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support meetings by taking notes and capturing action items
• Ensure timely and effective completion of projects
• Keep finger on the pulse of how people are experiencing the organization and recommend new communications and initiatives as needed. Serve as liaison to Culture Committee.
• Stay apprised of Enterprise and Segment priorities and relationships and anticipate/help meet related needs
• Work closely with Finance on the tracking of Nat Geo Media's budget.
• Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
• Working with the EVP/GM on special projects.
• Support the EVP/GM external engagements.
Required Education
, Experience/Skills/Training:
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in in a business management role.
• Excellent communicator in written, presentation, and verbal form.
• Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity.
• Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives.
• Proven track record of collaborating with a large and varied group of cross-functional teams and partners to tackle ambiguous problems and make forward progress.
• Proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior management.
• Strong ability to multi-task and context-switch with ease, in a fast-paced and ever-evolving organization multiple work streams and multiple projects.
• Strong process orientation with solid organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Adept at establishing trusting relationships with both internal and external partners.
