National Geographic Partners (NGP) controllership team is seeking a high performing Senior Financial Accounting Analyst to join our team in an exciting growth period for the company. This role reports to the Accounting Manager and serves as our resident programming accounting expert for National Geographic's three award-winning cable networks. As the National Geographic networks transition into the Walt Disney Company, there are many opportunities to work with different areas of the business, from internal audit to Disney parks. Responsibilities
• Utilizing SAP and Media Morph systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting of program accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
• Reviewing general ledger transactions, preparing journal entries, analyzing variances and reporting analysis to upper management, reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• On a quarterly basis, preparing and assisting in completing SEC disclosures for Walt Disney Television (WDT) Controllership and the Disney Enterprise Reporting team, including but not limited to programming inventory and liability rollforwards, flux analysis, and cash flow related to programming inventory.
• Ensure that all contracts and financial records are maintained within the MediaMorph system (i.e. programming subledger) in accordance with US GAAP and NGP/WDT policies.
• Reviewing new and amended agreements; working with management to research technical guidance to ensure the agreements are evaluated and accounted for in accordance with US GAAP requirements and company policy.
• Help to maintain the MediaMorph system on behalf of NGP.
• Assist in creating and implementing new processes for programming accounting to further enhance the efficiency and reliability of the team.
• Support external, 3rd party and internal audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility.
• Work cross-functionally with finance, legal, programming/production management, licensing, programming sales, AP, AR, IT and various business units on policies, processes & programs, and help drive key system initiatives and improvements.
• Participate in special projects, ERP implementation, system enhancements or ad-hoc analyses as assigned.
• Update and maintain policies and procedures for assigned product areas.
• Mentor, teach and review the work of other supporting members of the accounting team.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA - or Master's degree in Accounting – required.
• Minimum of four years' professional accounting experience, including a strong understanding of US GAAP and financial controls.
• Public accounting experience is preferred.
• Experience in the entertainment and media space is a plus.
• Excellent time and self-management skills, strong ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to succeed in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
• Proficient knowledge of Excel is required and comfortability working with large volumes of data (Advanced, Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Conditional formulas)
• Must be detail-oriented with the ability to perform account analysis and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of MediaMorph system a plus.
• Experience with SAP or large ERP system preferred.
