Role Overview
Nappy Boy is seeking a Creative Director to help translate, develop, and unify the creative vision of our CEO across all brands, campaigns, and entities.
Our CEO is the primary creative visionary behind everything we do. This role exists to help fully build out their ideas into cohesive worlds, campaigns, and systems, then ensure those ideas are clearly communicated, executed consistently, and carried through every creative touchpoint.
This is a strategic leadership role, not a hands-on production role. The Creative Director provides clarity, cohesion, and decision-making while ensuring that creative teams are aligned, supported, and working from a shared vision.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Translation and World-Building
Work directly with the CEO to help develop, expand, and fully realize their creative ideas into cohesive visual and narrative ''worlds'' across all Nappy Boy brands and projects.
Take early concepts (e.g. tour themes, campaigns, releases, brand moments, etc.) and define:
Visual direction
Tone and mood
Set design concepts
Key references and inspiration
Ensure creative ideas are fully thought through before execution, reducing confusion and last-minute pivots.
Creative Direction and Brand Cohesion
Own creative direction across campaigns, merch, tours, video, live events, and brand initiatives.
Ensure consistency in tone, look, and feel across all outputs tied to a specific project or era.
Act as the central point of creative alignment across departments and entities.
Ensure each campaign or project feels intentional, cohesive, and unmistakably ''Nappy Boy.''
Create clear creative direction and guidelines that teams can confidently execute.
Evaluate new ideas, formats, and partnerships to ensure brand alignment.
Team Leadership and Systems
Directly oversee and manage internal graphic design staff.
Provide clear, actionable feedback while filtering and consolidating stakeholder input.
Implement systems and workflows that streamline:
Creative requests
Feedback and approvals
Versioning and revisions
Reduce noise, conflicting direction, and unnecessary revision cycles.
Set quality standards and ensure teams understand expectations upfront.
Collaborate with and provide creative guidance to existing internal team members and trusted external partners, including graphic designers, freelancers, and directors while respecting their expertise and established workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Project Managers to align creative vision with timelines and deliverables.
Collaborate with marketing, live, merch, production, content and social teams to ensure unified execution.
Communicate effectively with executive leadership to align vision and priorities.
Serve as a creative bridge between leadership and execution teams.
Work with trusted external partners (graphic designers, directors, fabricators, agencies) when needed.
Review, Approval, and Decision-Making
Serve as the primary creative filter, ensuring all work is fully developed, aligned, and execution-ready before submitting to the CEO for final sign-off.
Provide decisive guidance and revisions so executive approvals are focused and efficient.
Balance creative ambition with real-world constraints (timelines, budgets, production realities).
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in creative direction, brand leadership, or campaign-level creative roles, or media environments.
Experience working closely with artists or personality-driven brands.
Proven ability to take high-level ideas and turn them into executable creative systems.
Experience leading designers and creative teams with clarity, confidence, and providing constructive creative feedback.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally and directly with talent and executives.
Ability to manage creative vision across multiple brands, platforms, and formats.
Experience in music, entertainment, gaming, live events, digital content or creator-led brands strongly preferred.
Experience building creative systems during moments of rapid growth.
Experience balancing creative vision with timelines, budgets, and scale.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with livestreams, podcasts, or creator-driven content.
Experience launching or scaling consumer brands or merch.
