MARKETING AND PUBLICITY MANAGER
Music Box Films is seeking a full-time Marketing and Publicity Manager. The ideal candidate is creative, highly motivated, outgoing and has experience in film marketing. This position requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and an eagerness to take on a variety of projects.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Located in Chicago, Music Box Films distributes award-winning and critically acclaimed international and American independent cinema to theaters, institutions and households. We are a small team of passionate film lovers who value hard work, collaboration and creativity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Marketing and Publicity Manager is responsible for the development and execution of marketing and publicity strategies for all Music Box Films releases, from their initial acquisition, through theatrical and home entertainment release windows, and continuing into catalog status.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
In collaboration with the theatrical and home entertainment teams…
• Create marketing plans and wrap reports for internal use and client submission
• Prepare publicity materials, press notes and photos
• Oversee national publicity and audience engagement efforts either in-house or by managing independent contractors
• Identify and pursue partnerships with organizations, institutions and brands in support of a film's release at the national and grassroots level
• Recommend and track marketing, publicity and advertising budgets
• Oversee media buys and social media campaigns; analyze data and adjust accordingly
• Maintain and strengthen brand identity
• Work with the Creative Director on the development and release of marketing assets
• Advise on pre-release strategy of festival and promotional screenings
• Manage year-end awards campaigns
• Filmmaking talent liaison; coordinate travel and public appearances
• Oversee the creation of collateral marketing materials (i.e., film clips, social assets, etc.) for use by Music Box as well as those needed for platform partners such as Kanopy, Tubi, AppleTV, etc.
• Assure consumer and business facing platforms are current and conform to company style guide
• Advise on acquisition candidates
• Plan and execute campaigns to increase Music Box Direct subscriptions
• Manage consumer-facing newsletters for Music Box Films and Music Box Direct
IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Passionate about arthouse and independent film
• Self-motivated, creative, detailed-oriented and well organized
• A confident, effective and persuasive communicator with excellent written skills
• Experience managing small teams
• Able to manage a budget and use resources efficiently
Requirements
• Marketing professional with 5+ years of experience in a related field (film industry experience strongly preferred)
• Knowledge of Mac OS and Microsoft Office required
• Basic Photoshop and video editing skills a plus
• Knowledge of PR software (i.e., Meltwater) a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Reports to Directors of Home Entertainment and Theatrical Distribution
• Compensation based upon experience
• Must be based in Chicago or willing to relocate
