This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
DESCRIPTION: SPRING (JAN - APR, 2024)
Established LA-based international film distributor is looking for a resourceful, dynamic self-starter to mentor. The non-paid internship will be mentored in the acquisition, sales, distribution and marketing process of independent films. The right candidate should be a cinephile that loves movies -- world cinema, indie films, classic films, blockbusters,...and able to articulate their viewpoints about the films. You should also be resourceful to track down the films and open up dialogues with producers or agents, maintain acquisition trackers and keep your team updated on progress. Your moviegoing hobby can be partially reimbursed by the company. You will partake in the brainstorming process of how films are marketed. The right candidate will gain invaluable, hands-on experience in the international film industry as well as domestic digital distribution. Writing skill and some editing skill will be very helpful in this position; however, please note that this is not a writing position or film production position;
RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Assist with tracking, research, analysis and review of independent films
§ May interact with producers to qualify and collect information on potential projects
§ Assist with social media film marketing campaigns
§ Assist with international and domestic film distribution process
§ Additional tasks and ad hoc projects to be determined
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ College major in film, media, marketing, communications, or related field with strong research skills
§ Passion for films and high literacy in film elements, film history, artists and various genres of independent films
§ Articulating and charismatic interpersonal communication in writing, in person and on the phone
§ Personable, professional demeanor, ethical and able to handle confidential matters
§ Attention to detail (prequalifier: read this listing closely and write a professional cover letter)
§ Common sense and some basic software skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
