Overview
MTV and VH1 are looking for an experienced and passionate Director of Paid Social to develop and execute paid social initiatives across all social platforms. The ideal candidate will be actively engaged with the trends in digital media and social today and have a thorough understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms from a paid perspective.
The Director of Paid Social will work closely with the Consumer Marketing and Brand Social team to ensure paid social efforts align with the overall marketing media plan for each campaign.
Responsibilities
• Formulate paid social strategies for all MTV and VH1 campaigns to drive tune-in, ensuring that recommendations and decisions are consistent, imaginative and deliver results
• Lead a team of 2 of Managers and Coordinators in thinking strategically about paid social’s role within the media mix and help our teams define tactical game plans to set social strategies and media plans
• Oversee the full execution of paid social campaigns, from set up to launch and analysis, including live monitoring
• Manage relationships with external Account Managers of key social platforms to articulate our goals identify innovative ways to meet them
• Develop MTV and VH1 benchmarks - what does success look like for our brand across paid social?
• Include a POV on creative within paid strategy, tailored to audience segment(s)
• Be attuned to emerging platforms and trends, and ways our brand can innovate with first-to-market campaigns
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 7 years working in the Paid Social Media space
• Expertise in understanding of paid social buying platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc)
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, working in a fast paced environment
• Capacity to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information
• Must have experience in overseeing paid social budgets
• Previous experience with tune-in
• Prior experience managing direct reports
• Background in Advertising, Marketing or Entertainment industries preferred

• Resourceful self-starter and strategic thinker
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively speak to MTV’s and VH1’s broader audience
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build consensus and work as part of an executive team
• Strong collaborator to work with multiple internal teams
• Passion for pop culture
• A strong work ethic, determination, persuasiveness and ability to get the job done
